If I understand your question correctly, you need to sign into your account, go to your home page or story list and click on the link in menu to the left for "Options" which is where your public profile resides, and write one or update it, and then scroll down and hit the "Save Changes" button. I hope that helps.

The profile feature for the forums has been broken for years. A lot of people are adding details to their signature block in place of a profile.
