problems with voting

Something curious about the voting for my last submission (Gina in Jamaica ch 3). The votes topped off at 8, then actually started to go down. It's now stuck at 5 votes and I'm confused. I expected to get more than 8 after 4 weeks, but have no idea how I would get less. Can anyone explain that to me? Is there a bug in the voting?

Thanks for the link AND the comments. I'm always looking for ways to improve my stories so please feel free to make suggestions! I have updated my home page in my profile as suggested- will that make a difference in getting those votes back? I kind of suspect that there were others that I've never seen, based on some feedback I've received for my other contributions.

the votes coming back: no, probably not, since now & again people will vote multiple times for a given story. their disappearance probably means they were duplicate votes.
