Problems with submission

I just submitted Ch 7 in the series And the Children Shall Lead Them, and am not very confident over how it will be posted.

Last year I submitted one that had a whole section missing when it was posted. I learned of this only after being trashed in voting and having someone suggest I submit it again. That time is went through, but the damage was already done.

So this time I previewed every page...and got a different result each time. Sometimes, the following page had 2-3 paragraphs repeated from the previous page. But other times. there would be a gap with several paragraphs missing when I tried to continue at the next page. But then when I paged back, sometimes the missing sections would be present. Even the page numbers changed. At first it showed 8 pages and then as I paged through it would go to 7, but then other times it woud change to 8.

This leaves me rather worried as to how it will eventually post. I wondered from others experience whether such glitches are typical in previewing and it will usually post okay? Or should I delete the whole thing and try resubmitting before it gets accepted?

Thanks,

Steve

I've never actually had any trouble with the kinds of things you mention. Generally, I copy and paste my stories into the submission box rather than submitting a Word file. If you're having problems with one method, try the other.

When your story posts, review it and see if there are formatting issues right away. If so, then re-submit. But if you keep going in to look at what you submitted before it posts, it goes to the bottom of the list and takes longer to post.

. . . . oops! And I thought this thread was going to be about BDSM . . . *tiptoes out quietly*

Best bet is to write in Arial. I believe lit changed codes from HTML - so instead of bold you need to write <b> bold <b>. Also if you have tabs or anything - this will make a difference. However, I am not a guru. :) Luck to you.

Preview is typically just that, a preview. The page breaks you get there do not necessarily correspond to the real ones, and preview doesn't really work well for more than 2 or 3 pages.

My guess is that it should go on well, if you did all the formatting correctly - i.e. if you didn't add any silly code to it, if you have a line of separation between each paragraph, if you have Word auto-format features turned off. If you're having doubts about it, though, just copy-paste it to a simple .txt file and submit it as an attachment.
