Problem regarding story title length

When I went to add a second chapter to my latest story I was unable to do so - the box cut my title short.
I then found that there's apparently a limit of 34 characters to your title but mine - 'Love and Lust in a Coronavirus World' - exceeded that by one character and with the added 'Ch. 02' it was well over the limit.

But if so, how was it that the first chapter title was accepted in full?

Because my second chapter was all ready to load I sent a message to Laurel and Manu to ask for a way out of my problem but I've heard absolutely nothing - and that was four days ago.
Oh yes, I did provide my email address and request a reply.

So how long will I have to wait to hear anything?
Does it normally take them this long to reply?
Or does anyone know how to solve my problem?

PS I could, of course, amend my title but that would require amending the existing Ch. 01 - and with the lack of forthcoming information I envisaged problems in doing that too... so I'm not willing to risk that yet.

The site editor can extend the title length - it's not an absolute fixed length field.

I suggest you submit with whatever length title you can, include a Note to the Editor explaining the issue and asking for it to include Ch.02.

That way you get it into the processing stream and Laurel will see it. Sending emails is probably a waste of time - a PM to Laurel will get you further. But submitting will get you furthest of all, I reckon.

I just tried to submit chapter 3 of my story, Late Night Swim with My Step-Sister.
Since the title was too long with Ch. 3, same as it was for Ch. 2, I added a note and explained the problem, thanking them in advance.

The only thing is, now my home page doesn't show anything pending, though I thought I had successfully submitted it.

In case it didn't go through, I tried submitting it again, but it shows that it's already there as Ch. 3, though it doesn't show as pending.

I'm not sure what I should do, since I've already asked about the title, and it might have gone through, though I'm not sure.
