Well the time has come and my company let me go...so I am now out of a job. The depression is setting in and I don't feel like doing much of anything so I may not be on here much for the next week or so.

It was a long 13 years and had to end sometime what with all the different offices we now have around the country. And the merger with another firm, like the fifth in 8 years, there was due to be a downsizing and I got cut.

So, it off to look for a new position at a company here in the Windy City. I dread having to look for a new job and further dread having to commute to work again, traffic is shit around here.

Just thought I'd let y'all know...

Oh, and I probably won't be making it to the Litogether. :(

Let you know about that in a month or so.

Oh Zeb, I'm so sorry :(

sometimes when one door closes, it allows another to open... I'll hope for something even better for you and yours... soon!

:rose:

I'm sorry to hear that Zeb. PM me if you'd like any help (I just finally found the job I wanted last month, so I'm an expert at how to look  ). On the good side, the job market has really picked up, although we often have to take something less than what we had. :(

Oh Zeb, I'm so very sorry to hear that...just remember, we are your family here and there are many strong shoulders and big hearts here when you need them.

I know its hard to beleive but things will be okay.  :rose:

Sorry to hear that, Zeb. :rose: Just keep in mind that whatever company hires you is going to be damn lucky to get you :rose:

It will work out.

As I found out, getting cut in a merger can be the best thing that ever happened to you. I'm sorry for your pain after you gave 13 years of loyalty to a company. In the long run, their loss, not yours.

Best of luck.

MJL

Sorry to hear the bad news, Zeb.

The one thing you must not do is mope. Get the resume shined up and out on the street. It is not fun looking for a job in February in Chicago. Then again, a job is not about fun, it is about a paycheck. Get the letters out along with the resume and something will turn up. Good luck!

Zeb,

Sorry to hear that. I'm afraid such a change may in my future too. Been there once, already. It sucks, but Selena is right, another door will open.

Sorry to hear about the job Zeb...

but there's some good advice above to which i can only add good luck....

I've had the same job for 35 years, only the companies changed, its a very small industry and someone always has work available... lately it's been far more than I want...

Hang in there, Zeb . . . it's never as bad as it seems. Pithy advice, I know, but I've been in the working world for 20 years and that's what I've come to learn.

Don't let the depression get to you. Hey, you just might find something better.

Wishing you luck.
I thought I'd have a problem getting a job after being out of it for over a year, and 57 years old.....I got one and pretty close to home.

Fingers crossed you have the same fortune. :rose:

I'm sorry, Zeb. Much luck to you on your job search, and I hope we'll see you at the litogether. :rose:

That is a bummer Zeb.

Here's hoping you get a fix on a new job, and it's quick.

Wow, I'm sorry Zeb!

Having been 'let go' three times, outright fired twice and lost my employer once(owner died), I can sympathize with you.

Get up every morning like you're going to work and hunt for a job instead.
I wish I had computers in my younger days; back then it was networking, calling in markers and shoe leather.

Don't lose heart, buddy. There's a lot of folks out there who are in need of your knowledge and experience. Especially smaller businesses. They can't always pay as well, but a jobs a job.

Hang in there.

Shit. Sorry to hear that Zeb. Adding my positive words of, "There's no way in hell someone with experience and actual common sense is gonna be unemployed for long," to the rest of the crowd.

I would think losing my job would make me hang out in the forums more ;)

Good luck finding new employment though.

Very sorry to hear this Zeb...

...I was there last year, remember? Two days before the meet up in Texas? So I do know how you feel...

I did catch on after 7 weeks of looking and with a much better environment to show for it. I hope you have similar good fortune.

*manhugs*

Sorry to hear the news Zeb. I was under similar circumstances not long ago. All my friends here helped me through it, including telling me it would work out for the better. It has, indeed worked out for the better, so heep the chin up, it will work out.
