Theoretically, no inlaw is incest. There is no biological tie there. As far as I know, anything closer genetically than second cousins is considered incest.

The further away you get from mother, father, brother, sister and son or daughter the less *interesting* the incest aficionados will find the story.

'Kissin Cousins' can be considered normal and therefore not taboo. Depending on the exact status of the cousin, even marriage can be legal.

Trick question this. Colly is correct in stating the lineage down to second cousin, however.

In Europe (not sure about elsewhere) there is a thing called 'Affinity'. It is appended to Marriage Law for most EU states. Affinity means you cannot marry any relative by marriage whilst the former partners still live. Incest is legally defined (in some countries) as intercourse in breach of Marriage Law. So there is a catch all (in-laws) clause.

Most European states are busy revising Marriage Law to allow same sex marriages and are quietly dropping the affinity list in the process. I've never heard of any one being legally charged with having sex with their brother-in-law.

I wouldn't regard it, personally, as incest.

Brothers-in-law, step-parents/siblings, cousins, other in-laws for your hard core incest fetishist are not generally considered incest. Your v.hard core fetishist seems also to crave pregnancy resulting from close blood relative incest.

Hard core: Grandparents, Parents, siblings, aunts and uncles.

Soft core: Non-blood relatives, marriage related.

and some define incest as the production of illegitimate children, so that would mean sex isnt incest, but the cause of it. I personally think incest is disgusting, i always wonder about the people that like/write about it
