I "never" start a post, but I thought I would pontificate on this topic. While Literotica is a free form environment, I have noticed a strong trend for people to "restrict" who posts in SRP threads. I respect the wishes expressed and do not intrude. However, if two people want to play, why not use E-mail or PM's or chat rooms? I might also point out that you miss a lot by not being inclusive. Some of the very best "players" are people that I have encountered in threads that one or the other of us have joined.

This "privacy" trend seems to have begun while I was away for a bit buried in work. Perhaps its just a cycle....I hope so.

I agree with you Thor, I've been lurking there for the past 2 weeks, to try to find a thread to start srpg again. Everything seems closed, or well on it's way!

If you start one, I will join you for sure! Or maybe I should bring back the thread, where I am still on my knees :D

As you say...

If SRP threads are restricted that's the way the players want it.

Starting your own and making it unrestricted would seem to solve the problem...

I am a guilty one. Yesterday I started three srp's, no surprise, but two of them are restricted. The reasoning is that there are a couple people that hop on, start playing and then disappear on ya. Leaving you with characters and developments. I got sick of it. This was my way of keeping them from messing up any more of my threads. I am sorry. I don't like it either but it is so frustrating when someone hops in starts something then disappears leaving me in mid pant, so to speak. There are four threads I am in now where my character is wandering around doing nothing. Another where I am making it with someone who hasn't shown up in over a week and another I simply left her standing in the kitchen.
The other reason was that there are some players who monopolise your characters. Make them do things you don't want them too. Even when you have told them not to and asked them to lay off, nicely of course. Or, in one post make an entire love making episode happen and be over. Probably the way they do it in real life also.
This was the only way I could think of to keep this from happening without hurting their feelings.

I just have one SRP up and it's, no surprise, a private thread. I just wanted to play a little with a specific person, tailored the thread to his particular circumstances, sort of, and now have the joy of not having to perform on it every day at least nine times.

By the way, I'm still trying to figure out what to do next. *sigh*

*slap*

Ok, ok! Two of three of my favorite people say private is OK. So, with a most courtly bow, I sit, kneel, lay corrected..LOL (but I still think they are....oops)

By the by, the "target(s)" of my maundering was not any of the above. I would NEVER criticize........<g>

:p
