private poems?

Internet has seen a lot of wild disputes. Poets r not immune to them either. Then they write on occasions some nasty pieces. Later they don't even know what their "poem" was about.

Myself, in such situations (oh, yes, occasionally :)), I had a rule to write always something that will transcendent the occasion, something that will be actually a poem.

On the other hand some poems r meant to be private. And I don't mean any texts which include information about certain people, which should not be disclosed publicly. I mean poems which r not sufficiently univesal or significant, poems which U write for yourself even when U post them on a public forum.

If U have such then post them here. I don't think that I will submitt the poem below to Literotica in the regular way (so that it will be "viewed" & underrated :)). The modest place in this threat is just fine for this poem below.

Good thread

I like the idea of this thread a lot, thanks SJ.

I came on here intending to review a bunch of poems before posting links to mine and submitting them for review, you know, reviewing others so I could "earn" my feedback later.

Then I realized that I was writing the poems for ME, and not for others. Don't get me wrong, the feedback that I have gotten is extremely illuminating, but not nessasary for me to have a constant infusion of it to continue writing. In fact, I do believe that people become "self concious" and begin to write poems to impress the reader more than anything else.

Anyway, the thread made me think of a "private" poem I wrote, and intended not to save, because saving it invalidated it! :D

But I did save it, and here it is:

Here is a poem
that will never be read.
It will never be saved.
It will never be quoted.
It will never be remembered.

Poems express
what is hard to express
by trying to walk through
the open door
of truth.

private parts :)

Even when a poem is meant for the public consumption, it still has, most of the time, a private component. This is also the case of rollange.

On RedFrog I acted as a private editor for some of my friends, who wanted me to post their poems rather than to do it by themselves. In some cases, always with their permission, I would add an "author's note". Should "rollange" have one too? Should I tell in a note, in small font :), that Orange Blossom Trail is one of the main streets-roads-... in Orlando (Florida). Indeed, orange trees were growing there, and at night they smelled nice. But OBT was dirty, not elegant at all, and was known for its strip joints (gogo topless bars, sometimes bottomless too).

Now U have zen complete, harmonious, with both wings equally strong. Now Basho would be happy :)

Regards,

So much for privacy...

Edited to rip my heart off my sleeve and put it where it belongs.

The bastards won't post any of my poems...

Everytime I post a poem (and they're all really good, too!) it doesn't make it onto the Literotica poetry listing because they think I stole it from somebody else. This is bullshit!:mad:

U'r very welcome. Enjoy.

I feel that there is such a thing as poetry (poems). The goal of a poet is to write poems. The rest is of secondary importance.
...the feedback ... is ... not nessasary for me to have a constant infusion of it to continue writing.
Especially when feedback is of the form: stop it! Enough! :)
In fact, I do believe that people become "self concious" and begin to write poems to impress the reader more than anything else.
Most authors don't attempt it. That would require some technique and effort. Majority just writes, and only afterwards put an effort to convince U that their stuff is superb.
