Private message problem

I have an unread PM, according to my User CP page. I go to my PMs, and there are no unread PMs there. It is telling me I have 246 PMs total, but my inbox has 108 and my sent box has 137, which adds up to 245. This is really driving me nuts! HALP!!

I have that same problem, as have others - see some comments in other tech support threads regarding "lingering" PMs that have been read but still come up as unread.

Not sure what it's due to. It is not due to the deletion of spam mail, in my case.

But the consensus there seemed to be it was a ghost of a PM removed by the site.

What I don't like about that idea is that I've heard a couple people say they never saw it meaning the site went in and grabbed it...meaning the site is looking at PM's

Odds are once they know who the spammer is they're just going into their sents and finding out who got the spam, but its just got that air of big brother to it.

I'll have to stop talking about my huge crush on Laurel now.

I had a message in my email - New Private Message - but it was for one I had read a week earlier.

Earlier I had had another message in my email - New Private Message - one of the spam PMs.

But I can't change the Unread marker to zero.

Not necessarily. I've twice reported obvious spam email recently, Laurel has very quickly replied, saying user banned and all other PMs deleted. So perhaps not Big Brother after all, just house cleaning.

On the other hand, LC, maybe people really are out to get you, so you don't need to be paranoid after all

You don't. The system will reset itself sooner or later.

It resets when you really delete a private message in your inbox. If you don't have any other private message to delete, go to the personals and offer to show your tits (your sex doesn't really matter).

I now have 3 PM's that I can't see. Please get rid of your useless spam filter program. I can delete it myself, I've being doing it for 20 years.
