Private Feedback seems to be moderated now.

For the past few months, story comments have been posted after approval.

It seems that's the case for private Feedback email now. I get them in small groups. I even did a test and emailed myself yesterday with the Feedback; it usually comes right away, now it was grouped.

Prior to this, in the previous few months, there have been a couple of spam email using the Feedback system.

You gotta feel for Web site administrators who have to deal with this sort of nonsense.

Server refresh times, I reckon, not moderation. Somebody said in forum they'd sent me private feedback, I didn't see it until the next day.

I don't know. I had a slight rash of email spam a while back, so cutting off that avenue by using the same moderation filter makes sense.

As with comment spamming, I've seen this same thing happening on other erotica sites. Everyone else seems to be depending upon a larger moderation staff to deal with removing the spam and spammers after the fact. It's not working out so well, especially in the wee hours of the morning when many of these overseas spammers are at their peak, and their moderators are sleeping.

Had a rash on another site today. Story comments, private messages, and forum spam all blasted out by four or five spammers simultaneously in the overnight hours.

Lit is ahead of the curve in controlling this particular wave of spam.

I answered a comment on a story today, and my comment went through immediately.

If Lit is now moderating private feedback, it kind of ruins the whole 'Private" aspect, does it not? Personally, I can handle deleting a few spam emails from the feedback system. They're easy to spot.

Yes they are, but when they hit every writer and many stories, that's a processing burden which is best solved automatically. It wasn't just occasional and sporadic, it was constant there for a while.

Anyway, there's no evidence offered by anybody yet that suggests comments are being disallowed because of what's said in them, or that privacy is being breached. Mind you, no hate speech merchant, racist, homophobe, anything-phobe is going to pop-up here and say, "It's not fair, my scum-baggery isn't allowed." For all we know, there's piles of it being purged every second.

I think you underestimate the tenacity of scumbags, and you apparently never venture onto the GB, where this happens exactly as you described on a near daily basis.

I see no reason to believe that story comment scumbags would be any less indignant and vocal, if their comments were being filtered by the site in any significant quantity.

Yes, I laughed at that. I haven't seen it recently, but during recent years as the boards were becoming increasingly moderated, there were users who screamed bloody murder, posting exactly what EB says hasn't been posted to Literotica on the mistaken belief that they had free speech here that was being illegally censured.

We're talking about story comment and feedback moderation, not forum moderation, which is a different thing entirely.

If folk follow you from the GB or Political Boards to lambast you and your story file, then that's a direct consequence of the "discourse" you guys post there, isn't it? I use the term loosely. No sympathy from me, on that one.

It's just a perfect example of the type of behavior you're talking about. Forum board or story board, they behave the same. When they're being "censored", they scream bloody murder. We would be seeing that if any content beyond pure spam was being filtered from the story comments.

The rare posts I make on the GB are typically to poor bastards who have wandered in there by mistake, in order to direct them to more appropriate locations for their discussion.

I'm also smart enough to turn off my signature in any posts when I make them.

I do, however, read it quite a bit. The WTF? image threads are entertaining, and even though every political thread is slanted sharply enough to dump everything into the bin, the GB is actually a reasonably good source of rapid news aggregation.

Probably 3/4 of my news consumption has its start from the GB.
