I had a lunch meeting at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel yesterday and I realized that this is where they filmed "Pretty Woman". I love that flick, but every time I bring it up I get half the women in the room saying "Yes it's a great romance!" and the other half screaming "Cinderella garbage that celebrates women as whores!"

Can't we have both?

Watch Pretty Woman back to back with the movie Whore.

It's a riot.

Okay.

It's a great cinderella garbage romance that celebrates women as whores.

Happy?

Richare Gere sucks.

Gere is semenitic? I had no idea.

He still sucks.

Sure. Gerbils? Cindy Crawford, ad in Variety?

He may suck, but I always liked American Gigilo.

Pretty Woman is an example of laser precision formula.

For those of you that scoff at this, consider the endless wave of formula films that can’t even get their own formula right.

Pretty Woman works because the screenwriters implicitly understood the dynamic of romantic-comedy, and Gerry Marshall is expert craftsman.

That's it exactly. Paint by the numbers film-craft done well.

And it's got Hector Elizondo. You can't go wrong with Hector Elizondo.

Empty your box and I promise not to laugh at your movie pic of the week.

Hector's great, he adds a lot to the film. I enjoy the films he's in because he adds a lot of depth to the charactors that he plays.

I really liked Pretty Woman. I liked the romance of it, the celebration of love, the style and pizzaz. The pictures of a Julia Roberts in a large bathtub covered with suds isn't bad either.

I liked the one with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant too.

The scene where where the uncouth roomate looks at the naked pictures in the magazine, wanders into the bathroom, slowly notices that someone is in the tub and that it's the girl in the magazine, steps out of the room, puts his hands together, looks up and says "Thank you God"....is a pretty good scene too.

LOL.

Would me calling you coward suffice????;)
