I have a friend who takes Prozac for depression and Adderall for Attention Deficit Disorder. As I watch her behavior Im beginning to believe she is addicted. I have found information on both drugs at webmd and depressionclinic.com but have been unable to find anything on the mixing of these two drugs:confused: any help would be appreciated:)

Try the PDR....Physician's Desk Reference.....maybe on
the 'net they have a version of it.......try there.....

Good luck!

There shouldn't be an interaction between these two, no. If she's addicted to Adderall, then she most likely doesn't have ADD. What about her behavior makes you think this?

I just checkd my drug book, but cant find any literature stating that these two drugs interact.....when you fill the script at a pharmacy such as CVS or Rite Aid, ask the pharmacist for info about these two drugs....they usally will tell you if there is a concern or if one drug can potentiate another, also check with your doctor, they may be able to shed some light on this subject for you.

good luck

She takes at least 4 adderall a day. then goes through a crash, sleeps and then takes another pill. migrain headaches are also part of the experience, not sure if thats relevent

Then you really need to consult a doctor about that. A website will only do so much.

This isn't due to an interaction. Couple questions, if you know:

How long has she been on each?

How many mg's is the Adderall?

Does she use any other substances, legal or not?

What has changed in her behavior from before?

I ran the two thru the Drug Interaction Checker on Discoveryhealth.com No reaction, except with grapefruit. It just slows the absorbtion of the meds, so it says. Prozac is not addictive btw. Don't know about the other one.

There's usually more than one drug for anything. If her medication isn't improving her condition while maintaining or increasing her quality of life, then she should demand something different from her doctor. Otherwise, why take it?

Yeah but most of the drugs that treat ADD/ADHD are class 2 drugs, so they have street value....they're essentially speed.

If this woman doesn't have ADD, by way of misdiagnosis or embellishing symptoms on her part, she could be addicted.

If that's the case, she's probably not demanding different drugs.

Been on PROZAC at least 6 maybe 7 years, Adderall 4 years. Not sure about the mg's Im quessing 50mgs. As far as I know there are no other substances. The crashing and sleeping part, she never did that in the beginning. Also she cannot hold a job which has never happened before. Not sure thats relevent. Sometimes it seems that she is totally unaware of reality. Its hard to explain:confused: Ever have a friend whose whole world was coming apart, and you saw what was happening and could do nothing to stop it. Thats what I see, and its getting worse.
