Pregnant Women Addicted to Drugs

Lav, I agree with you 100%. I could write a paragraph or two about it, but really, I think you summed up my exact thoughts perfectly and succinctly. Therefore I will simply say, "yup!"

i agree. I've worked with a lot of parents and one thing i've noticed is that most parents want the best for their children.

Sometimes, they are incapable of making the best decisions. They need all the help they can get.

Even when a court tells someone they must go into treatment, the road ahead is still a long one. Motivation is one thing, honesty is another, and just because a court dictates something does not mean there is funding available for the treatment.

Of all the pregnant women I've had, only one insurance company was kind enough to create a benefit where none existed to fund the treatment and went the extra mile for the baby, despite the mother's lack of commitment.

This is a horrible problem with many pitfalls. Treating the kids once they reach puberty is another issue... and I'm not going there now.

What is it you do?

Many here know already...

and I've got one right now, thankfully it's the one from the good story I mentioned above.

Then get them the help they need. Abortions are not a birth control option. I think that is absofuckinglutely insane.

Those babies have NO choices as to the life they will lead later due to this totally preventable birth defect. They don't know that their peers will taunt them...or that they will have no cause and effect thinking...or that they may never lead a "typical" life...

I wanna know just who is going to pay for the help they need? You gonna fork out some dough? Cause its not there right now. And are you gonna' care for these women's other kids while she's in treatment? Just asking

Prohibition (of alcohol the 18th Amendment and Volstead Act), i.e., making it a crime to drink or manufacture or transport it, created Organized Crime. It was rescinded, but it was too late.

The criminalization of drugs has created a nation of criminals. A criminal justice (so-called) system overburden with petty drug cases. A nation of prisons and a prisoner class.

And we're on the same path again with tobacco. Will women who with children who have nicotine in their blood be the next wave of "child abusers"?

I live that...I have no choice, thanks to the birthmother.

Yes, the birthmothers are the key, but unfortunately they don't "get it" usually...

And I'm pretty sure the abortion reference was not a blanket one meant to imply it as a solution to 100% of the pregnancies, but rather a last resort to keep open in the event that the unborn child's defects are such that the life would be filled with limited cnsciousness and cognitive abilities. I'm talking born without some organs, limbs, IQ of 15, etc. And I'm not giving my opinion on that with my post here.

But your point of this being 100% preventable is the key here....

I adopted two of those kids without being fully aware of the fetal alcohol system...

HELL YES...I donate as much money as possible to ongoing programs in BC...I donate time as well as money...

Well to that I say--It's nice to see people like you out there, I wish there were more of you. Unfortunately there are not.

I'm not advocating abortiona as a means of birth control. However, I think it should be available on Medicaid if a woman does become pregnant and decides she is not presently capable of carrying to term responsibly; or if whe wants to try, there needs to be a support system for her to do so.

Legalize MJ, and take the $$ from it's sale and the $$ saved on the fewer legal cases and fewer DEA employees and take that $$ and fund the treatment. I'm sure the $$ would equal that which the tobacco industry brings in annually. If not, the sale price of the MJ could be adjusted to increase the $$.

Take the extra DEA focus and put it on the harder drugs and reduce the risk of prenatal exposure to cocaine and others...

Just a thought...

I come across as very staunchly believing only one way in this issue...it is a very very personal issue for me. I am sorry if I don't appear to have any sympathy for those poor mistreated birthmothers.

Nice tit.
