Pregnancy Question *Urgent*

If a female becomes pregnant in the first few days of her period, will it end prematurely? ANY help would be much appreciated.

What do you mean? As in, "Are babies conceived during a certain part of the cycle doomed to miscarry" or summat like that? God forbid. THAT'D be a dumb standard feature for evolution to include. You'd think they could've installed something more useful, like anti-lock brakes or auto-defrost.

...Anyway. I think you need to explain a little bit what you meant there. :)

Emerald had the right idea. I didn't mean the whole pregnancy terminating early.....I just ment the period in which she got pregnant. Thanks for the replies!

No, her period should not end early because of conception. As stated before, its unlikely that one would become pregnant during her period. Not impossible, but unlikely. During a period the egg is shed along with the lining of blood and nutrients being stored. No egg means no conception. Still, yes it is possible. If it were to happen it would take a little while after the joining of egg and sperm for all the appropriate hormones to be triggered. By then the period should be over or nearly over anyhow.
Hope this helps a little.

The other thing to remember is that there can be "implantation bleeding" that occurs because the egg is burrowing into the uterine lining. Some women have been known to mistake this for a period. Don't know if this would actually be relevant to your situation, though.

Hi CrazyIrishman,

Are you asking this question because your woman's period suddenly stopped prematurely and you are wondering if she might be pregnant? I am writing on this assumption.

In any case, there are many factors that might cause a period to cease earlier than usual: certain birth controls, age, hormone fluctuations, stress, etc. Without knowing specifics in your situation, the reason would be difficult to guess. If you don't want to wait an entire month to see if the next menstruation comes along as scheduled, get a pregnancy test!

Happy day,

I think you need to tell us more. Periods can last from 1 to 7 days variably, especially in older women. Pregnancy is unlikely, though not unknown during a period. Periods can occur during pregnancy and other factors can show bleeding that can be mistaken for a period.

Take your choice.

I know someone who was only able to get pregnant during her period. All three kids were conceived during that time.

Funny, thats why docotors calculate the beginning of pregnacy 2 weeks after her menstural cycle?

Shoulds like she is a story teller.

Yes it is possible though unlikely.

All her kids? Well most people dont know they are pregnant the minute it happens since it can take several days for the sperm to reach the egg.

My guess on this whole thing is she slowed down naturally and orgasm might have speeded up her last day due to the contacting during orgasm.

That really is the way it happened. The first kid, they had been trying to conceive for a while and couldn't, but once they started having sex during menstruation, she got pregnant right away. I forget the reasoning behind it, I'll ask next time I see her.

I believe the most likely way for a woman to get pregant "during her period" is if she has sex on her period, then the sperm lives within the body for a few days until her period is over and she ovulates. THEN the conception occurs.

as to the original question, i'm assuming that you're asking does your period stop automatically when you get pregant. As other people before have said, it's highly unlikely that a woman would be impregnated this way. If she had sex during her period and became pregnant as a result (via the process above), it would apply to her next cycle, not her current period.

Think of your period as a time when you are changing your bed sheets. I know it sounds odd but work with me here!:D

Anyway your uterine lining is the bed that warms, protects, and nurtures a new little life. If that new little guest doesn't show up at the hotel to spend a few months the sheets have to get changed(about once per month...you know dust build up) so they are fresh for the next potential guest.

Changing your sheets it's hard to do with a temporary guest (sperm) jumping up and down on the bed. More than likely that pesky guest will be thrown out of the room/womb along with the weary sheets before it ever makes it to the sleeping beauty upstairs (the egg in your fallopian tubes). Keep in mind that sleeping beauty sleeps around the clock until your alarm clock wakes her up (your hormones). That alarm clock causes the egg to mature and travel down the tube to meet with the sperm. Once they meet the egg is fertilized and continues along the tube for a few days before reaching the uterus/hotel where it implants and becomes an embryo. If that WERE TO HAPPEN BY A SLIM CHANCE the fertilized egg would find either a bear bed or one in the process of being changed.

Hope this helps.

Hugs

TxBelle,

You explained that beautifully! Very eloquent thinking... how can something so tiny get in there when a bigger flow is pushing it out? (Thinking pine cone floating on the river when the dam opens up!) I'm still hoping the Irishman comes back to explain why he asked the question. His enlightenment would be a big help, we could then assist him in a better way.

is there anyway you could even figure out the exact date you conceived?

If not...then why would getting pregnant at the begining of your period even matter? You would have no idea when the baby was made in case of miscarriage anyway....

or maybe Im confused...lol

Well... when I got pregnant for my daughter, my husband at the time worked out of state. He came home for a period of two days, which had to have been when I conceived, and it also happened to be smack in the middle of my monthly cycle. So, I believe wholeheartedly in the mid-cycle conception frame (days 14-17 or something like that). Although, people have had adorable little mishaps using the rhythm method!
