Predictable ratings roller coaster. Am I nuts?

I just finished the first ten episodes of a serial. I've noticed this pattern with the ratings. Published work, coming in hot, high ratings, 4.85 and above. It climbs one or two fractions. Within 12 hours the rating begins a freefall, sometimes dropping below the 'hot' zone. Then it climbs steadily over the next couple of days.

Is my stuff unappealing for lunchtime? Am I more of a breakfast or late supper writer? How can I get that brunch crowd on my side?

Wait a week for the score to stabilize. Anything before that is normal fluctuation.

Don't try to psychoanalysis votes, or the timing of votes, there is no usefulness to that.

A 4.85 vote is a big target that will attract downvotes just because it's there.

Your fans are usually the first ones to vote, so they are dropping 5s.
Then everyone else arrives and things normalize a bit.
