Hi, there's a story I've been trying to find again, but I can't remember the title. Summed up, it's set in the future. A guy is working on investigating an explosion (that part, I'm not certain about anymore), and he meets an alien who says her species can sometimes see the future, and she has seen that he will be her lifemate. After some time, whoever was responsible for the initial disaster kills her. The guy is in terrible grief and works to stop the bad guy's master plan. After, he finds himself back in a more familiar place, and realizes the whole thing was a prophetic vision. He goes to find the woman, and immediately arrests the guy who was responsible for the initial disaster, and the story ends happily on that note. Wonderful story, and I'd love to reread it again, but I just can't find it any more. Can anyone identify it?
Edit: Oh, and I think what the bad guy did was that there was an explosion first, and later on in the story, he sends a missile or something back in time.
