Morning All :)

Ok I wanted to start this thread because there are so many poets on here who do valuble work and offer endless support and encouragement. I would like to give recognition and appreciation to those poets.

We recently had the 'In praise of annaswirls' thread which she rightly deserved but I want to praise other poets too. I'm sure there have been similar threads in the past but sod it i'm starting another one! :p lol

So if you have a poet to praise please come and praise them here and 'out' them for their valuble contributions.

I'd like to get the ball rolling with My Erotic Tale... :rose:

Art, first of all I would Like to congratulate you again on your book deals, I know they will be great! Second of all I want to thank you again for trusting me to take over your Saturday Reviews while you a busy writing those books.

Art, has given me his support and encouragement since I first started posting here at Lit, from my first story to my most recent and from my first 'really bad' poem through to my recent 'improvements'.

He has offered me his shoulder when I need to talk, about poetry or personal matters and inspired me with his wonderful writing, poetry and friendship.

So in honour of all you do, for me and others I give praise to you My Erotic Tale...

I am truely honored, thank you JC~

I beleive it is a perpetual growth, I was encouraged by elizabetht and joseki ko when I first come here, then offered some critical and helpful advice from wicked eve and angeline, as well as many others, neonurotic, annora and echoes.

I have found that most new poets are touchy with their first few poems. I encourage all for I truely haven't found too many poems I don';t like <grin> maybe a few puzzle poems but my point is they develope a sense of self awareness in time and become critical of themself rather that beat them with words of you need to improve, it seems to be a natural thing to want to improve they just need encouragement <grin> and inspiration

thanks JC ...please continue for there are many who deserve this spot light more than I... thank you....bows humble

Art~

I also think ZMA is the best poet here! He has helped me and noone else did care much at all! WickedEve even said to go away & not talk about ZMA much so much!!
I Kno whis books will be GREAT!!! I like ZMAs ZMPs the best cause he is so ZEN!!!! :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

I wanted to edit this to tell you that I never told you to leave. And you should talk about Art all you want if it makes you happy. You're a good guy, Scott. Keep writing poetry and be a good friend to Art. I'm sure he cares very much about you.

It's hard to choose as there are many who I find worthy of praise, but I'd like to give praise to PatCarrington.

I understand he's doing less on Lit than he used to, I wish I'd been here when he was more involved. I find that he is full of powerful gems of skill that are good to listen to and to try out. I've learned a lot from reading his work and comments, so

Thank you Patrick.

.....man it made me sad. Always sad and deep and great stuff. He is an
academic dude who knows the in's and out's of poetry. While my hats
off to him for his writing and cool Av, I must say the banter between him
and Ang. was great writing. I loved it when they would go at each other.
My point is he is the total package. One of the best six I've seen here.

I think that this thread is a good idea to say a warm thank you to those who HELP others <grin> like JC, who has charmed the poetry thread with warm welcoming posts, taking the added effort to read and comment on all poems especialy the new poets that need encouragement, not testing their skin thickness.

And now for doing a great job reading and reviewing the new poems, thanks JC for all your inspirational help and encouragement. You go the extra mile to make new poets feel welcome which is a problem with the poetry forum. So many have left because they felt they were not excepted with a warm welcome but slammed with a list of what is wrong with their writes.

Thanks for all you do Jennifer C....(~_*)

Yes I agree

Pat and I have not always agreed on things, infact I don't think we have ever agreed on anything lol, but I truly respect him as a poet and a very lovely man who's talent for writing shines through in his work.

Thank you Pat... :rose:

Thank you Hun,

I really don't do that much but what I do do is a pleasure. I love to read poetry and if I enjoy it I say so.

I do try to encourage new poets and make them feel welcome, as I was when I first joined here 2 years ago. The lovely comments and warm welcome from you and many others was wonderful and made me feel so at home here.

I've made some wonderful friends and learnt so much, I want to share that with others.

Thank you for your kind words, support and friendship... :rose:

Hey there, JC
You do a grand job filling a special need as you welcome new poets onboard. I've read some of those poems and as I just shook my head in incredulous disbelief (at the proffered piece), you manage to find some way to say something positive, especially to new poets {or, should I call them the wannabes?}.

The really hard part when responding to someone's verse is that this, more than prose, fact, or opinion, is highly personal and subjective. And, if meant to touch an emotion, it won't be felt the same from day-to-day {try reading some verse the morning after downing a bit much of the Sangria}.

Just keep up the grand job you do. :rose: :rose: :rose:

Thank you babe

you do a good job too, You comment often and fairly which is always encouraging.

Thanks for your comments babe on the threads, my poems and others.

Come and play with me again soon... ;)

I second the cheers for Patrick Carrington! If you miss his work, do a Google search, or watch the Construction Thread and Not for the thin skinned.

It is a good idea to listen to what he has to say, agree or not... it generally always turns out to be a positive learning experience if you keep an open mind. Even though I rebel against his correcting my grammar (damn it) I often sigh and just put in the damn hyphen. I am even starting to notice that it DOES make the poem easier to read. Damn it.

And he is more critical of his own work than of anyone elses.... giving everyone an example/inspiration of how to edit. He is always striving to write a better poem, going through revision after revision. He listens to advice of less experienced writers and takes it into consideration. It is a lesson for everyone to learn from. God knows I hate to edit, but with his encouragement, directly and through example, my work has improved because of him. Even learning bits of things here and there, line breaks, hyphenating words, etc. Free advice from professionals is not easy to find. Thanks!

FlyGuy

First of all, Flyguy is a non-discriminatory flirt. He seems to follow my Thumper's fathers advice, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

He is very active on the threads designated for serious review. Few are brave enough to venture in there and put their work up for potential improvement. But those who do can find really intelligent reviews that are helpful.

Fly has a knack for getting to the root of the poem, the meaning behind the surface, what works and doesn't. Also he is open for suggestion, and does not get touchy when critical comments are made about his writing. In fact, I think the harsher I am, the more he says Thanks!

He came here a little over a year ago. Completely inexperienced, but with an ear for words, and insight into human nature. Go look to see how far he has come with the help of talented poets here (I started a list and was afraid I would miss someone inadvertantly!) If reading you know who you are. He quickly got to the point where he was helping others.

Unfortunately, his work is no longer at Lit. BUT you can go check out his progress at Poetry in Progress and Not for the Thin Skinned. And put something out there! It is the best place to get Feedback, before submission.

I'd like to thank all of you for either giving me pleasure or ...thank you. :)

I gladly THIRD it
I love Pat !!!!
I think his poems are spot on. Yes, he is the biggest critic
I have as of yet. I always listen to him. Yes,
he also corrects my grammar .... wording. He is usually right.
I can see it from a different angel and it really works better.

Just had to add my 3rd sense in here. I am a big fan
and always read what he is posting. Just I hardly ever comment,
he is toooo good for me to even attempt that ~ *winks*

Go read .... See what I see ~
it ~!!!!

I would like to mention Du Lac,

I know many may not understand her poetry, I fortunately get explanations but she is clearly the Literary major with the wisdom of writing and is willing to converse and explain alot. Thanks Du for helping out in reviews and editing and showing many of us how to write. So many with this knowledge use it like an ice pick to shape a poet, but Du has a way of making a pillow fight out of a lesson <grin> thanks Du, you are the silent wisdom here.

to the snow owl I bow humble (~_*)
