$214M Powerball ticket sold in Delaware

Associated Press
October 10, 2004

A ticket sold for the Powerball game Saturday night in Delaware matched all six numbers drawn to win the estimated $214.7 million jackpot. The winning numbers were 1, 3, 10, 47, 48 and Powerball 27. Power Play: 3

The prize goes to an estimated $10 million for Wednesday.

Tickets that match the first five numbers, but miss the Powerball, win $100,000 each, and there were 17 of those. They were sold in: Colorado, Connecticut (3), District of Columbia, Indiana (2), Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania (3), South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

OK, we hven't played this game for a while so what would YOU do with the winning ticket?

Lump Sum or 30 Year Annuity?

What's the FIRST thing you'd buy?

A divorce. :D

Wouldn't you still have to split the winnings with your Ex?

I think I'd give the ticket to my Elder Daughter and let her claim the prize -- 'cause if I claimed it, the first thing I'd buy is a pair of trust funds for my granddaughters' education. My Daughter would do the same thing but could do it with bigger trusts and a smaller tax hit.

I would gladly split the winnings with him if he'd just leave.

I bought a ticket in Missouri, but of course I didn't win. If I had, I had it all planned out to move to Hawaii and tell my family I joined a cult. I could just see myself frolicking on the beach with my new boy toy/personal assistant. Sigh, there's always next week.

First thing I'd buy would be myself free of debt. Fucking Labour government and their tuition fees. Then I'd get a high interest account and live off the interest. :D

Nice to dream.

An interesting post WH. However, think how much more interesting if you had just made exactly the same post on Oct 9 2004. I mean, I hate to be a compainer, but your timing was a bit off. (I could have used the $214 million!)

If I could have made that post on Oct 08 or Oct 09 2004, I wouldn't have been online -- I would have been over the border in CA or AZ buying a Powerball Ticket. :p
