Randy Foutch calls it a renaissance, but when you listen to the veteran Texas oilman and others describe America’s nascent energy boom, it sounds more like a miracle.

Politicians have been warning for decades that the U.S. must wean itself from foreign energy, but just a few years ago their words seemed like so much wishful thinking: The U.S. was facing what seemed like ever-rising oil prices and was importing about 60 percent of its supply. Natural gas inventories were shrinking, and the country was considering importing a liquified form from the Middle East.

Nah, our natural gas reserves and market prices have the potential to make the US not only energy self sufficient, but a net energy exporter, if and when the infrastructure for exporting is developed.

I blame Obama.

For the first time in my career, we actually have the ability to talk about real energy security or independence,” said Foutch, 61, a burly Texas native with four decades experience in the oil business.

You can't blame Obama for something positive in a RWCJ thread.

Are you new?

Now wait for the idiots to tell us Obama had nothing to do with it.

Why the hell would we want to do that? I just don't understand that thinking. Oil is still a finite resource. Why not stockpile vast petroleum reserves for the day when there truly is no more crude from the ground to refine?

Because money is neat. I've heard there are places where you can get beer and stuff for money. Maybe even bacon.

Because anybody with a brain will have moved on by then assuming it doesn't just happen yesterday.

Think of it this way. What would you do if you had a few million barrels of leaded gasoline?

I just had some bacon delivered to my house, along with other various toppings on a pizza.

I acquired it by bartering with that money stuff.

It's good stuff, I recommend getting your hands on some.

The pizza ain't half bad either.

The companies that extract oil and coal in the US export it all the time because they sell on the global market. So how do you think we can become self-sufficient?

President Nixon begot Project Independence in 1973 - 40 years ago...

...last December, Communist China finally tied the USSA as the world's #1 oil consumer and, from now until they implode, their oil/natural gas consumption is only going to increase exponentially.

Today, Communist Chinese are buying almost as many cars every year as Americans - around 16.5 million...

...within a decade, Communist Chinese will be buying 30 million cars a year.

BP says the USSA will be virtually energy self-sufficient by 2030...

...Exxon Mobil predicts North America (Mexico, USSA, Canada) to become a net energy exporter by about 2025.

Exxon also believes USSA consumption will decrease another 5% by 2040...

...while many see Communist China's import dependency increasing from it's current 6% to a walloping 20%.

It is no coincidence that as Communist China's energy dependency increases...

...so does their military spending.

And you honestly believe corporate America and our government will share the wealth...the only thing trickling down will be polluting our waterways and groundwater.

I've never waited for any one to share their wealth with me. ;) The water is already polluted. :)

NO

AS SHOWN BY THE ABOVE

Its RENEWABLE

america will turn into an energy exporter. they'll fuck up your water and land to make the corporations rich. at least the saudis share the money with the general population.
america produces almost nothing. all the companies that actually produce something went to mexico, china, etc.. thanks nafta and wto.
