There's a range of men, experiences , and terminology here :)
Sometimes pounding figures in some contexts ...sometimes it's the other way around, too! It's a broad church..

You are perhaps right. I also write graphic if it belongs into story.

So what is your preferred 'graphic' word ?

Favorite? I dunno. Some useful image-words: Pounding, pistoning, slamming, stroking (non-manual), thumping, pranging, boning, bumping... and many more. For a large list, see The Bald-Headed Hermit & The Artichoke: An Erotic Thesaurus, available from your local Amazon outlet or torrent client.

Which begs the question which came first, the term or the song.

Seriously, though, (And you should consider the fact that I just swallowed a bunch of pills (prescribed thanks) with coffee so it may not be worth much) what word could better describe a rhythmic thrusting as all the charm and wit that male displays in his public persona is stripped away and he is unable to think of anything other than the woman below him who has become his entire world in that moment as he picks up the tempo of his hips that are pistoning less and less gently and more and more animalistically into her as he strives to shove his very soul through that flesh he is entering her with and become magically one with her?

Er... sorry. What were we talking about again? Where am I? Who are you people?

Yes

We do use the word pounding.

Source: Am erotic writer, using pounding all the time.

You bumped a thread over a year old to prove so, Serban?

Okay, cool non-sentence. I like the authenticity and the way the energy builds, but the act is possibly not so satisfying for "the woman below him."

Better watch out. You keep making comments that the woman should be considered as anything
But a fuck toy to be used and abused the "real men" of lit will be mad at you.

Guilty. I use pounding, slamming, smashing, etc. At the crescendo of the act of sex, pounding is what occurs. After more then 40 years of marriage, I would say there was a lot of pounding...when we were younger of course. I swear, sometimes I thought she would break my pelvis.

I like throbbing, pounding sex sometimes. I like it a lot more in reading erotica. (shrugs)

What's the problem?

Thrusting, slamming, hammering(a variation of pounding I guess) pounding, tearing into....

I guess pounding goes along with explicit descriptions of things slapping and going bump in the night - not much of a term for romance though.

It's not about romance. It's raw animal sex. His torso pounds down. Her hips pound up. They both sweat, drool, gasp, and groan. Et cetera.

believe me, women use such words, too. Though in my experience (as a writer and in reality) I have found that women prefer to start soft and gentle, etc., after a bit of experience and the growth of trust, very often a good "pounding" is what she asks for. In no way do I mean to imply or condone physical violence of any sort, but consentual sexual intercourse can get quite frantic at times.

I've used 'pounding' but I drew the line at "Jack hammered.' :D

IMHO "Pounding" and all the other related words are used to denote the difference between love making and fucking. When fucking people pound when making love they caress. I believe that word connotations are some of the tools writers use to set the scene and yes "Pounding" and "Hammering" are words that invoke a scene that people can relate to and understand.

I like pistoning, slamming, power-cycling, steam-driving, chain-sawing, percussioning, drumming, ramming, rabbiting, snaking, weaseling, dogging, etc. Not to mention puppy-fucking, horse-cocking, cat-stroking, dog-legging, roostering, cunt-rootering, and whatever other vivid metaphors pop up.
