While certain people on this forum cry and scream about "totalitarian leftists," let us reflect on the words of Donald J. Trump today:

“When somebody is the president of the United States, the authority is total, and that's the way it's got to be. It’s total, and the governors know that,” Trump said during the news conference.

As for what happens in states:

"It’s a decision for the president of the United States."

Where can we hide? Attic? Under the floorboards? In an annex?

This is getting SCARY!

Nothing like a good old fashioned national crisis to bring a country together. :)

But let it be a Democrat...

These people are ridiculous with their hypocrisy.

i'm pretty sure this is what he believed the job offered when he ran for it and it's been a YUGE disappointment to him to find out he doesn't have autocracy like his favourite world leaders

'I'm pretty sure'...lol. :)

The Presidential precedent was set by Carnal's guy
and we warned at the time that you don't want to
condone Pen&Phone as a method of Presidential
governance when you approve of what he is doing
because, eventually, a Republican would have that
same power. (What are you going to do, run to the
court? They have no troops... ;) ).
However, at the time, the Progressive Left had self-
vested in the idea that republicans were dead and
the White House, bureaucracy and probably the
Congress was going to be their fiefdom in perpetuity.

How did that work out for you?

He does say some crazy shit, doesn't he. :D He's just checking to make sure Nancy's paying attention. She probably had an aneurysm after that comment. Maybe sleepy Joe will have a press conference today. :D:)

When I initially began talking about government overreach
and the potential for economic disaster by acting blindly, in a panic,
I had no friends in this Carnal crowd, in fact the general reaction
was negativity to my skepticism, the denial label, accusations of
thinking (as they wrongly accused Trump of) the virus was a hoax
and being lumped in with all the people that they wanted to go out,
contract the virus, with a subliminal subtext of "I hope you die."

I also got lectured about "Science" from people with no "Science"
credentials or degree and when I talked about my Science education,
then I was informed that anyone can claim anything on the internet.

Well, Progressives, your chickens are coming home to roost.
You got your man-made disaster, you got your chance to
blame Trump for the Pandemic and you managed to put a
lot of mom and pops out of business and now hospitals
and medical practices are going under because they
prepared for The Chicken Little scenario...

So, really, maybe you should shut the fuck up and start listening
instead of lecturing and ascribing by "class"
instead of crying hysterically, in a panic about
GOVERMENT OVERREACH!

What are you smoking, Old Man?

Your brain is mush. Just give up.

Watching this unfold is interesting to say the least and there are some serious implications for this nation going forward.

The way the fight is unfolding is whether the president or the various governors/mayors have precedence regarding shut down orders etc. I think the argument should be reframed to "do any of them have the authority to suspend the Constitution?"

So far a fearful populace has been cowed into subservience and fear is a powerful tool to use to cow a citizenry. So far it's been effective. Short of a formal declaration of war I can find no such sanction of these powers anywhere in the Constitution.

I, and others, have continually warned the leftists of the danger of their supporting their chosen politicians of in the pursuit of extra-constitutional powers. That eventually a politician not of their choosing would be in a position to wield those same powers. The decision we as a nation make going forward couldn't be clearer. It's not which politician we are going to allow to use those powers, it's are we going to allow ANY politician to use those powers?

Now you get accused of smoking stuff too.

I told you so is even sweeter when you can
reduce the forewarned to hapless sputtering...

Any Supreme Court challenge of the National Emergencies Act would almost certainly grant Trump the power of which he speaks.

Ironic

A bit of news just prompted this:

Progressive reaction to Pandemic: Trump didn't isolate us soon enough!!!

To keep them safer, we need to release the inmates and detained illegals!

How many times do I have to say -
conflicting concepts comfortably compartmentalized?
