Potterverse fanfiction ban

Hey all, I've written the first chapter of what I think is a pretty grounded Ron & Hermione fanfiction set when they're in the mid 30's. The fact I can't post it here and have to publish it on sites which include some pretty grotesque tags if I want anyone to read it has kinda killed my buzz for the story.

And I can't even link to it from here so the right crowd sees it.

The ban on JK Rowling derivative fan fictions feels pretty arbitrary to me. Surely the mods can use some discretion to weed out any of the sick stuff. Or is it a legal issue?

The site has a firm rule about not aging up characters: if readers associate them mostly with stories about them as children, you can't write erotic fic about them as adults. This is a line the site has drawn, like the "must be 18 or older" rule.

On top of this, various properties such as Harry Potter and most Disney are intended specifically for children. The site seems to have adopted a blanket rule of not allowing them, so as not to accidentally draw kids looking for stories about their favourite characters.

Lit doesn't have many rules. Best to stick to the few they do enforce.
