If anybody has noticed anything else weird ( story side of the site ) lately, post it up here.

I just remembered that the portal went a little wonky once yesterday as well. Kept putting foreign characters ( some accented A ) at the beginning of lines during one update.

Likewise, I noticed that the category portals were cutting off the bottom of the "most popular authors" list and the bottom few elements of the page were improperly aligned a few times yesterday.

Anything weird you've seen happening may be connected, and could help Manu track down the problem.

I really should have taken screen caps of that, but I just assumed it was probably a temporary glitch. Not so sure now.

If you see any weird formatting errors and can screen cap + post them here, that might be helpful as well.

It's what I do *laugh* When I'm bored or need a break from writing, I range around the pages exploring. Came across quite a few good stories that way.

As a fellow code warrior, I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be to track down this sort of stuff, so I try to help all I can when I see things going haywire.

On the category-specific comment pages, the "most comments received in X days" lists are weird.

For example, on the romance page, the eighth most commented story in thirty days was posted on 7/17 and has fourteen comments, while the ninth most commented story in thirty days was posted on 7/25 with eighteen comments. Both are within thirty days so by definition all comments are from the last thirty days. However, their order should be reversed. It makes me wonder how the lists are developed, and if there's a glitch.

I think I mentioned this a while ago... it makes me wonder if I'm just being dense and missing something totally obvious?

Hmm... could be connected. I never looked too closely at that part of the category portals. I'll take a look at that as well.

EDIT: Just peeked at several of the comment portals, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order in which "most comments in xx days" lists are sorted.

That doesn't really make sense, because the logical query should assemble the list in top-down fashion by its very nature, and you'd have to randomize the display afterward on purpose...

And, it's working again.

Dunno whether it was the bug report I sent or something that straightened itself out eventually, but all the comment portals appear to be back in proper order.
