I'm new to social media. Honestly, I still woder what the fuzz is about. But I hear it's a great marketing tool. So I'm thinking about putting links to my stories up on Facebook, to hopefully find more eyeballs.

Anyone know FB's stance on erotic content? From casual observation and news stories I've gathered they're pretty strict about naked pics, but what about nasty words?

Is posting stories to FB worth the trouble in the end?

Some advice would be nice. Thanks!

Hey BJ! :) Good to see you!

I've had no problem using Lit links on Facebook and even getting decently risque photos attached to them. Just avoid nipples, vagina or cock shots, and bare asses, but even pube hair seems to be allowed.

As far as "nasty words" ... well, let's just say the F-bomb sure doesn't seem to bother them and if you are thinking of just a snippet teaser, I'm pretty sure they won't get overly excited with intimate body parts and sex acts.

I know of one prolific lesbian author that will actually publish an entire short story every so often as an eyeball catcher for her eBooks on Amazon.

Check my page link at the bottom to see what I've used in the past. (and no, I'm still in funkland and not writiing.)

Give that sweet lady of yours a hug for me.

.

Hi JKD, glad to see you still kickin' around. How are the furkids? Oh, and my lady love says thanks for the unexpected hug outta nowhere.

I'll give spamming my shit on FB a try then. Let's see what happens (besides crawlbots nicking my stuff and posting it to russian malware spewers, that is) :)

You should ... Selena Kitt post her stuff there all the time as do other authors. I don't, but perhaps I should.

Twitter is actually much easier and they allow all types of adult content-a shocking amount of it, even incest porn and people tend to retweet what they like.

One thing if you start an account there maybe mark your bio and your tweets NSFW (not safe for work) and 18+ that helps filter some of who will see your posts.

But if its only story links I don't think you even need to worry about that.

If you create a page on Facebook, you can also mark that as adults only. I don't know how much more latitude that gives you, but the option wouldn't be available if there wasn't a reason for it. It may be as simple as hiding those posts from people who don't want to see them, but even that is a benefit.

I'll be checking out Twitter.

I won't use FB because of its owners bullshit and the fact its as annoying AF in general.

This. My "friends" post their damn lunch on FB. And when it's not lunch, it's ads. Oh, wait.

*sigh* I feel so old sometimes.

As for Twitter, don't you need a large enough following to get your tweets distributed far and wide? I don't think #readbjsstories will ever be a thing :)

Its like anything else, including here. You start from scratch and build a following. What helps on twitter is hashtags. So you post a link and do #erotica #BDSM(or whatever it is) and as many 'tags' will fit with the link, tag line of your story within 280 characters-recently up from the original 140

Example
The Breaking of Allison
To pass a test, a mistress becomes a slave

https://www.literotica.com/s/the-breaking-of-allison-ch-01

#BDSM #bondage #dominant #submissive #analsex #oralsex....whatever you can fit.

People find things by hashtags so is someone types in #BDSM maybe they see your tweet.

As for FB...I know this sounds bad, but it is the banality of humanity. Once saw a post "Just got my period, cramps from hell" and it had 100+ likes...yeah, no thanks.

That and the people reaching out to you from friggin HS to friend you...like if I wanted to stay in touch with you I would have:rolleyes:

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a bash. Wouldn't it be sensible to use a link cropper like ****** to maximize the amount of space I have for hashtags? 140 chars isn't much.

It was 140, now its 280 but yes if you can shorten them (like I'd know how:rolleyes:) that's even better.

Links on Twitter are automatically assigned as 24 characters or something of that nature, regardless of length, now. No need for the URL shortening services any longer.
