I have to go to my happy place...
I found this:

I bought a new slinky today. Its steel (or something). I haven't had a metal slinky for years. All the recent ones have been plastic. It's a whole new experience. This one came in a box printed with instructions. I have replicated these below for your information:

1) To walk a Slinky down stairs.
Place Slinky on the top stair. Grip coil at top and slip it over toward the middle of the next lower step, releasing hold on Slinky. Now Slinky takes over and walks down stairs all by itself.

2) To play with Slinky in hands
Hold End coils of Slinky with both hands. Now raise and lower each hand in a rhythmic motion.

3) To walk Slinky down incline or slope
Any board or table top with a non-slip surface will do. Slope surface so rise equals about 1 foot every 4 foot length. Place Slinky at top, flip and watch Slinky start down, end over end.

4) To bounce Slinky up and down
Hold a few coils tightly in one hand, allowing the rest of Slinky to hang down. Now in a bouncing motion, move hand slowly up and down.

I found no. 4 to be particularly informative.

Also printed on the box was a responsible warning. Take heed, children - for while a slinky can be your best friend, if you're not careful it can become a foe more dangerous than your could imagine:

CAUTION

Do not use in moving vehicle. Do not throw coils out any window. Keep Slinky away from face and eyes.

Remember, a Slinky is for life. Not for Christmas.

I have a slip and a new roll of aluminum foil. I can probably work something up.

I think aluminum foil is a bit too... Alien conspiracy nut.

I just like the idea of the dress bobbing up and down with every step. The faint shing-shing shing-shing sound. The momentary obscuration and revelation...

FYI: The dress made from slinkies pinches in some rather...um...delicate places and keeps trying to drag me down the stairs. Some modifications may be necessary.

I might have to put not posting to religious threads... Sigh, pretty soon I'll be a lurker, stewing in my own juices.

Mental note: Buy a slinky as soon as possible. A metal slinky, because those plastic ones just don't cut it. Maybe a bunch of metal slinkys. I could have slinky races. Yeah! Ooohh, and give them all names. Funny slinky names. Oooh, and paint hidden messages on the sides that read as morse code while the slinky slinks!

When I was a kid I got one of those metal slinkies stuck in my hair and had to have it cut out. Then it was all kind of warped and bent and wouldn't walk down the stairs anymore. Just a word of warning. ;)

Ha! I knew there was a reason I shaved my head a few weeks ago! My nefarious plan to takeover the world with Slinky's is coming to fruition! BWah ha ha ha ha!

Buy slinkys. Play with them. Watch the shiny metal sparkle in your hands! Schlink... Schlink... Schlink...

The plastic ones look cool hanging from the ceiling. I'm not sure about the metal ones, especially since the tragic battle between hair and spring, but if your head's already slinky-proof...

You could love it again. They are cheap, less than $3. You know you want a Slinky, because everyone loves a Slinky. Schlink... Schlink... Schlink...

Nope. Besides, I only talk like that when I am doing my evil genius impersonation. I could have been a really good evil genius. I'm talking Bond movie level evil genius with a secret island lair and everything. But I was raised in the suburbs.

See, he thinks he's an evil genius too... He has many plans for how to take over the world, but I'm not gonna hold my breath :D

I don't think I'm an evil genius, although I do have a few plans on how to take over the world. But taking over the world is a lot of work, and you really have to be pretty evil to make any of the plans work. The easiest way is through a religious cult where you brainwash your followers and have them subvert and infiltrate the media. But subverting people's religious beliefs for profit and power is incredibly evil.

Anyway, genius - Yes, evil - no.
