Posting a series in multiple categories?

I've been working on my Medusa: Fate's Game series, and I've been struggling with the category. I originally started posting chapters in the "NonHuman" section, as the sex in the series is between a human and a gorgon.

But the series really is a fantasy series, through and through. Sex and romance are half the story, the other half of the story is ancient Greek adventure fantasy. And this makes me want to put some of the chapters in the "Sci-Fi & Fantasy" category as well.

Good idea, bad idea?

A lot of authors have written stories, each chapter of which finds itself in a different category. I wouldn't worry about it. After all, if a character loses his or her cherry in the first story, it might be "First Time" but that wouldn't apply to the subsequent stories, would it?

Good idea - given that the two categories would have a lot of cross-over between them, anyway, so you have a similar(ish) reader base.

Sounds like good marketing to me: readers who wouldn't stumble upon your story in one category might find it in another category. Once they are hooked on the storyline, they will follow the other chapters wherever they are located.

I categorize by genre, not by kink. Most of my stories are either Fantasy or Sci-Fi first, porn second. I have straight, lesbian, gay male and weird stuff in them, as befits the plot. If a reader goes with it, cool. If they are turned off by it, also cool. I try to warn my readers in the disclaimer at the top of the story if anything squicky is featured, so they can filter if they want. So far the number of outraged comments regarding e.g. posting a hot gay male scene in "Temptation of Gheeran" has been zero. Either I have a tolerant readership or they simply don't care enough to vent their anger at me ruining their read. *shrugs*
