all right, now i have posted my first poem to literotica, but , i am sittign here on pins and needles waiting for it to post, and secretly fearing it wont be ...

plan on posting more, but i know from the first one i posted, i will get some critisim.. so, heres the question
what kind of armor do you don for defending your craft???

Dearest Virtue, Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them stink. that said ya just need to take what people say with a grain of salt......... some people will not like your poetic style, because that is not how they relate. Some people will not like your use of certain words........... You should never have to defend your work, just take what everyone says here with a grain of salt... a lot of constructive critisism is made, and some of it is just pompous windbags wanting to here their own keys. This is a great forum, I am looking forward to reading your poems. _Land

You may not need armor, and you may need a lot.

Depends on what you are after. If you just want an opinion no sweat. If you want a critique well better strap on the tin can.
Poetry is an art, and like any art it has levels of competency. A novice is no less an artist, simply not as accomplished as a student.

Few poets are students of poetry. Do not look for any opinion or critique to validate your poetry. Most praise is useless, a good critique or a good opinion, now there is something of value. Of course if you do not practice revision of your poetry then both are useless.

Opinions are indeed like body orifices, but a critique? well that is different body part all together.

I understand that leather makes really nice armor...

and if nothing else, it's good ol' kinky fun to wear, right?

both of my poems have now posted...
i wrote both at diffrent times in my life when i was very very depressed,
no apologies, just and explanation, i also have found my notebooks ( this is where we shout hooray) and i will be posting several more of my poems up later today..
