Post and resize pics

You need to use a host other than imageshack or any other host that won't allow adult pics or linking to Lit. I find Google's Picasa Online to be very easy to use, but if you google 'free adult image hosting' you'll see there are about a gazillion hosts to choose from (some don't even require any registration/info from you whatsoever.

You can use the Preview Post button to check your code/view your hotlinked image before posting it, too (so you don't need to post every time you want to see how a post looks).

come on

I have picassa and have a album what do I do now?

The same thing you did with the imageshack pic, basically.

Click on the pic in the album.

Right-click and select 'Copy Image Location' (or similar, depending on your browser) or copy the URL from the address bar.

Click the
insertimage.gif
icon above the post.

Paste the URL you copied into the box that pops up and click OK.

Preview your post to make sure it shows up, then submit the post once you're happy with it.

Your internet provider likely provides free or low cost site hosting (50 MB or so). If you want to collect and post pictures regularly, you might look into that.

I have so much space on my website that I use it for my photos. I just need to make sure I don't use the same file name as what I use in my website. It might be more than a little embarrassing to have an erotic picture suddenly appear on my website.

I use Microsoft Picture Manager to do simple resizing of my photos.

Thanks to Erika for suggesting GIMP to do editing. I am just starting to explore its possibilities.

How do I do this as I have the capabilities now.

Thanks for the help
Just one minor point -- you don't need to resize hotlinked images unless there is a size limit where you'r ehosting them. You only need to resize them as a courtesy to others who don't like the way huge hotlinked images distort the forum pages and the time they take to download.

I prefer Irfanview for resizing because among other things I can do a batch resize, rename and copy an entire directory of mixed format images into 800x600 or 540x600 JPeG images suitable for attachments here at Lit. And I can do it with about four clicks from the image browse function because the batch function remembers the size setting from one use to the next. (actually I can do the same thing with one image each from a hundred different folders, but it will only accept one target folder and it take a lot longer navigate to the original images to select them.

Download a free programme called irfanview.

Open the picture in it, drag and box the area you wish to keep and then crop to that size

Then save the picture, when you do a seperate box appears - set the quality to 75%, you will then get a very good size picture from an average digital camera image which will come up about 50/60 kb.
