Possibly alarming website -- personal data

I looked up my own name and was surprised to learn that I live in a million dollar home that has no heating or air conditioning. That could explain why it is so uncomfortable.

The rest of the information is just plain wrong.

I am not worried by this site. I have never been difficult to find.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too worried about that site. It seems all the home values are a million plus, which is ridiculous because property tax for a neighborhood is one of the easiest pieces of information to come by. It looks like a generic phone book with maybe some Myspace/Facebook info thrown in. The address it had for my wife was pretty strange, some place she probably lived for a year, years ago. If you pay money and know someone's name you can pretty much get their cell phone number, address, and any legal information there is about them. If you don't want any additional information out there, don't share it over the Internet.

That website is stupid. I'm married with 5 kids now? How the hell did that happen? :D

Way cool! I seem to be married to my cat!

I never knew his middle initial before.

Thanks for the heads up. However, the information on there is ALL SORTS of wrong. Kind of humorous, actually. I think it just mines data from other websites and then makes some conjecture. Websites like pipl.com have similar data. You can also search for people there by email address or phone number.

Thanks for the info. I checked it and some of the information is right and other parts of it are wrong.

Tequila binges in Tijuana will do that to ya ... ;):D
Well, I've been to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, and Key West, but I guess I must have been really drunk because I don't remember going there. :D I don't particularly hate tequila, though...

if you have a land line you can type your phone number into google and get your name and address. put the address in google maps and you'll get a picture of the street, if not the house. I'm sure you can pay some site to get unlisted numbers, addresses, records etc. if you know someone's name and the town. The information's already out there, taking it off one site won't matter.

It's not any more scary than the pre internet days when people just called the telephone operator to get your number. Usually, your address is in the phone book and it's also on every single form you have to fill out.

I hate to break it to you, but as far as information available online, this is just the tip of the iceberg. A great deal of my time at work is spent doing research online...and you would probably be shocked at what I could find out about you with a computer and a few hours.

Oh crap! I have kids!!! But sweet, apparently I have central air that I haven't been using.

A friend just alerted me to spokeo.com which is described as something of an internet phone book, but it has significant personal data gathered from many sources. You may want to check it out. There is a privacy option located at the bottom/right of the home page which you can use to remove your listing.

My friend found a listing for her maiden name, so married ladies you may want to search for this as well.

I'm not sure it's possible to keep private information private anymore...

That is just creepy! Although I wonder why they gave my hubby a college degree and me not, when it is the other way around. And our house is 1million- other than that- everything was too real... laughed that they didn't know if we have a pool... of all the things NOT to know. This is why I make up names for all my internet dealings! aarrrrggggg
