"Erotica" has a definite artistic connotation to me. Sexual, but not needing to be explicitly so.

It's mostly semantics, because there are some pornos that are pretty well done...perhaps even artistically so, but you watch it and you still think "porno".

If it's just about fucking, it's porn.

If it's about characters who happen to be fucking as part of an actual plot or to develop the character, it's erotica.
