Porn duty

I have a silly story idea:

So, in an alternate universe, there's something called "Porn Duty". It's like jury duty where you are called to be in a porno. Men and women are from all walks of life; there are teachers, housewives, farmers, lawyers, plumbers...etc.

Just like Jury Duty, whoever gets notified that they are slated for the next session isn't very happy about it, and it leads to causing problems at work, not to mention a few fights at home. After a short while, the name 'Porn Duty' is dropped, and just Jury Duty is used, but the person who gets the summons doesn't know if they will be bumping uglies or hearing a criminal case, so nobody really cares much after a while.

Maybe the selection happens at the same time. In the jury box, there are a number of candidates, and they are asked questions by both lawyers and porn producers, and they get picked for either duty in the same process, with the exception that they have a chance to do something special (wink&nod, wear a specific pin, voice their preference, etc) if they want one duty or the other.

Jury Duty and Porn Duty happens in the same general area so their family, friends, and coworkers don't know any different. Same clothes, same rules of not talking about the "case", and same one-two weeks of service. Except the porn side doesn't take as long. Taking into account how the body works, the Porn Duty is one hour on shift, two hours of recovery. After sunning by the pool with a margarita or watching a movie, they do another hour or so, then back to relaxing.

Porn Duty also allows the people to request special scenes so they can live out a fantasy. It also has the technology ability to cover tattoos or change faces to protect their identity, but in order for these digital upgrades, it means that every other scene has something taboo happening.

At the end of Porn Duty, the person is given a questionairre, and at that time they can request to be called again in 6 months, a year, or two years. It also has a suggestion box where they can volunteer someone else's name to be picked, as well as whether or not it's with their next visit or "just because".

Maybe there could be a hyper sexual "actor" class of people who get paid by "watchers" to take their place performing porn duty.

This is just another spin on the idea ...

Porn Duty is an added perk of Jury Duty. If you are picked for Jury Duty, you get to participate in creating a porn during the "sequestered" time. How many people would try to get out of Jury Duty then? How many would volunteer for Jury Duty?

No need to hide their identities, as they are doing a government duty. They participate with their real names and interviewed about their lives. Every man and woman talk about their experience in the porno.

You can't discriminate anyone because they did porn. No one can be fired, not teachers, not even nuns. You can't even tell your friend "your mom is a whore" because your mom can be a pornstar, too. One of the biggest appeals is that those videos are done with ordinary people.

This reminds me of historical occasions where important visitors were provided with bed warmers; in a non-slave culture these could be either servants or independent lower-class people who generally volunteered for the role because of the rewards offered by the hosting noble or millionaire. If we combine this with the idea of a government that provides "bread and circuses", then the production of pornography could be one of these government-funded entertainments. If it happened to be a culture where a high percentage of men are in the military, then government-run prostitution with high health standards and transportation to and from military bases would also fit in.

What could be possible disqualifications from this 'civic duty'?

As far as the military angle, there was a science fiction novel that included integrating required sexual duty rosters.

This sounds like a secular version of the Vestal Virgins trope. Following that line, all youths reaching the 18th birthday are assigned to be temple whores for one year, servicing any and all who come to 'worship'. Make it like the draft / selective service model, where all who aren't physically or mentally disqualified spend a year or two in sexual servitude. Room, board, and constant medical exams are provided for draftees.

Complications: Some try to avoid serving; others want in even though unqualified; hidden and shifting identities can lead to much frivolous humor. Such programs could be run independently by various jurisdictions with different standards, so some prospects will try to 'shop' for the best deal -- if you're overweight but eager, move to Georgia.

Maybe it starts out as a way to get people to actually do jury duty. The law is passed but doesn't go into effect for a year. It catches many people by surprise on the first day. They have a clever excuse to avoid jury duty. The jury selection goes through its normal process. Those that actually can't be a jurer (the defendant is a friend) are allowed to leave. Those that come up with some lame excuse why they can't do jury duty are ushered to a room. In it are lockers for their clothes.

Real faces, real names, filmed like a reality TV show. You get out after X number of sex scenes. Only sexual preference is honored. The old lady wants the young stud, she gets him. The hot blonde quickly fills her quota of sex scenes.

I can think of a couple conversations between two young guys.
"Dude, your mom is on Porn Duty. You need to watch this!"

"My mom just called me. She has Porn Duty."
"Again?!?"
"Yea, she keeps signing up for jury duty but never gets it. This time, she told the judge she was in favor of the death penalty for not signally a left turn."
