I'm not happy with this decision. It's mostly window dressing. Women who commit this sin are always eligible for absolution, except it was through a Bishop. The male involved in this sin is also a grievous sinner as well and should be subject to the same sanctions as the woman. That baby didn't get there all by itself. This pope is exactly what the church doesn't need.
If the Pope really wants to make a difference, he should remove the celibacy requirement for priests and allow them to marry. He should also acknowledge that artiificial contraception is not a sin, especially since 99% of Catholics use contraception.
