Is everyone suffering from pop-up ads for local girls to fuck and horny chat? When did this start happenng on Literotica? Someone please let me know if i am the only one this is happening to.

I'm not. Though I do run a blocker/scrubber/anti spam/etc. They tend to give me audible warning though when they nab something and Ive not had anything like that recently.

You probably should do some checking up on your system as a precaution. Even if its fruitless, it keeps you from having to do it again later.

Lit has never had pop-ups. If you're getting them here, then you have malware on your system.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

There are very few things that program can't handle, and it will get many of those if you try it again from safe mode.

The free version is scan/update on demand, and in no way crippled. The paid version adds an auto-updater and live protection.

The free version will most likely take care of your problem, no fuss, no muss.

It doesn't, hasn't, won't have popups. You have a virus, malware, trojan or other piece of crap on your machine. I bet you forgot to put on a condom before you went surfing in that cesspool know as the internet. All those porn sites to peruse. You need protection before you swim in those pools.

But now that you have caught the disease, what to do.

Spybot Search & Destroy Free to use.
CCleaner Free to use.

If you don't have virus software might I suggest AVG Free. It's free as the name suggests.

It also looks as Safer software had add virus checking to Spybot. I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know how it works. It looks like you have to pay for the virus checker. I would go with the free stuff, it's worked for me for the past 10 years.

Also, I don't know which browser you use, but I would suggest Chrome or Firefox. Although Firefox doesn't catch the malware pages like Chrome does.

Instead of AVG, use Avast free instead. It's faster, safer, and updates in the background without a reboot.

I'm with Dark on this one. Malwarebytes rocks. That and Microsoft Security Essentials is all I use on my PC. The Linux box seems immune to all.

If you use your PC for any type of financial transactions - banking, PayPal, purchasing with credit cards and the like, my recommendation would be to back-up your files, kill the partition and re-install the OS.

Malware/virus removal is patchwork at best. The stuff that infects PC's is written by very smart people who know exactly how all those removal tools works. Once they're inside your system, you can't trust it anymore, simple as that. If you have been in a situation that allowed somebody to slide an ad-server onto your machine, chances are that you also picked up something more stealthy with a more nefarious agenda.

Of course you might not care about all this if you only use your PC for casual surfing while doing your banking on your phone (which you should).

As antivirus on your "new system", go with MS Security Essentials like Tx says. It's free, it's light weight, it's maintained by Microsoft together with the OS and it's good enough. While you're at it, you might consider adding an ad-blocker and a script-blocker to your browser.

Somebody shoulda posted a NERD WARNING on this thread! ;)

Sorry. I couldn't resist. I have nothing to add, other than thanks. It's good advice. :)

Nerds? What nerds? I don't see any nerds around here.

Btw. what ship do you guys think is the fastest - the USS Enterprise or the Millennium Falcon?

Nerds? Please they wouldn't come to a cool site like this!

Answer: Neither: Spaceball one could attain Ludicrous Speed

As I adjust my halo, I will say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yeah I have one too.

Every morning there's a halo hangin
from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed
I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it for
the weekend or a one-night stand

My mother loves that song.

I use Webroot SECURE ANYWHERE. Costs around $50 for 3 computer protection.

I used all the others. Some of the free-ware suggested in this thread fucks you when the subscription expires or you ignore the prompts to upgrade. Its a protection racket in sheeps clothing.

SECURE ANYWHERE is prolly too vigilant. It barks at everything. I started using it years ago when it was called SPY SWEEPER.

Oh I thought I'd established pretty early on that I was knee-deep in geek/nerd territory. :) I keep telling PennBoy he's lucky to have a geeky mom. Not sure he appreciates that yet.

He will when he's a little older and you wow all his friends with the cool stuff you know. Then you'll be the popular mom.

But, um, not in the way I write about.

I was the "cool dad" when I took my daughter and 4 of her friends to see Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. The other girl's parents all called to make sure I was going because they didn't believe their was a parent would would go to that show.

One of them was like "That's great you'll deal with that crap for your daughter"

I said "Who do you think got her into that?"

Was an intriguing plot bunny idea though. Me and a car full of 18 year old girls.

So does AVG. I have one on my desktop and the other on my laptop. They both run about the same speed and both update in the background.

My cute story of the week- Rage Against the Machine on the radio. Three kids singing at the top of their lungs. I finally heard what the 5 y/o was singing- "It's the random days of funk! Funk! Random days of funk!"

He's so easily embarrassed. The other two just stopped with these priceless smiles, looking at me to see what I was going to do.

I grabbed his head with both hands and whispered in his ear, "Renegades of funk, buddy."

His response? "Oh."

We laughed, and he took it in stride. Didn't know he had it in him.

:D

After a couple of attacks, I switched to Bit Defender, which costs, but is probably the best anti-virus/ anti-malware on the market. Even MacAfee is full of holes and the freebies/cheapos give minimal protection.

This is not spam. I owe nothing to Bit Defender. I rely on my IT advisor at work.

Yes, but I'm tired of that bitch telling me, "Avast. Virus data base. Has been updated." :D
