Pop Ups

I am curious, what is up with all of the pop-ups? Every time I move around the site i have to fight them just to get to the boards or anything else. I don't mind pop-ups until they get excessive, there are times I have to just sit and wait until they are done before I can do anything. Anyone getting as discouraged as I am?

I've only experienced a couple...usually when I first come onto Lit.

There are no pop-ups on Lit's forums. I very much doubt that there are pop-ups on Chyoo or the main story site either.

If you have pop-ups it'll because you've installed spy-ware or advert-ware software (Gator, for example) which tries to pay for itself by sneaking these adverts at you.

That's strange.. I don't get any popups when I go to Lit. The only time I ever get any is when I check my Lit e-mail, and even then I only get one.

I'm probably mistaken... My roomie has so many things running on this computer that god only knows why I get pop ups from time to time.

Chidbar? Do you run Morpheus?? I know when I have that open I get boqu pop-ups. SOOO annoying...

My pop up killer hasn't caught any popups on Lit. Like Sixth mentioned it is probably because of spyware or some other such. Get rid of your spyware with Ad Aware. You will be surprised how much you have on your system.

The ones I hate the most are the ones which dont even have the grace to include a little box in the top right with which to close the damned thing and which get rid of the bar at the bottom so it can be fucking hard to close the thing or even to get back to what you were doing before.

For those ones use [ALT] F4 it is the close function key.

Many pop-ups are too complex for my browser to handle, so they show up as empty windows. If only the advertisers would realise how utterly pointless they are.

It will, Alt + F4 is the hotkey to close programs in Windows.
