I thought this site prided itself on no pop ups ever. All of a sudden they are everywhere.

You got malware pal, you are infected or at least your computer is.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and have never had a single pop up from this site.

well what can i do about it? I am supposed to be protected. every time I try to download or buy protection, they threaten me with more shit if I don't buy the "adanced version"

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Download that, update it, and run it. The free version will do the trick. The commercial version just provides active protection and automatic updates.

It's possible that the malware you have will try to prevent you from downloading it. If that's the case, you may have to download it onto a removable drive from another computer.

However you get hold of it, run it from SAFE MODE with no networking. That will prevent many of the nasty tricks malware uses to keep you from removing it.

If that program doesn't solve the issue, try going here and following the instructions provided in the malware removal forum.

It may take them a couple of days to get to your thread, because they only have so many volunteers, but they know all the tools and tricks to help you get rid of the really nasty malware.

Agree on malwarebytes. I also recommend spybot search and destroy and ccleaner. All free. Clean up browser add ins too, and get rid of toolbars you don't use

And use Chrome, it does a better job of protecting you from pop-ups and Malware sites.

Also, your virus protection software should protect you from malware by alerting you of site you are about to visit that contain malware.

I use AVG, others use Avast, both good products...and they are free to use.

As mentioned by others, Spybot Search & Destroy, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, these should all be in your arsenal for fighting malware, adware, trojans, etc.

In a situation like that I would reinstall the PC rather than bother with cleaning it (and accepting the risk from all the stuff I don't find). It's faster too and the result is much more satisfying...

I find AVG (free) very good.

I agree with Handly about AVG. Here is what I did. I downloaded the free trial edition and when I uninstalled it after the trial period it asked if I wanted the free version and I accepted that one. They used to offer a free edition when you first went to their site now you have to fiddle with it a bit, but AVG is considered one of the better anti malware programs.
