Nate Hawkins wanted his ad to be discreet, of course, due to the stupid anti-polygamy laws. He would have to know where to post it. He chose an "alternative lifestyles" magazine geared toward swinging, swapping, and other alternatives to monogamy.

Hawkins didn't want slaves. He just wanted wives. He didn't plan to swing. He simply wanted two or three lifelong partners who would help him raise the kids he already had. Since he was already a dad, he had specific needs unlike most other polygamists. He wanted two or three women who either had kids already and didn't need more or those who were sterile. One of each would do. With his twin daughters now eighteen and about to leave for college in the fall, he was ready for a very adult relationship with two or three committed partners.
