Poll votes are not anonymous

Did you know that if you vote in a Lit forum poll, other people on Lit can see how you voted?

Just look at the poll results and click on the number of people who voted in a category. It will then give you a list of all the people who voted in each category.

Only if you set the poll up that way. Otherwise only the originator of the poll can see the resultant voters.

Most people set up polls as anonymous... Pure is someone who does a lot of polls and sets them up to be non-anonymous, though... :)

A poll that is not anonymous is labeled as such at the top of the poll. It's an automatic function of poll creation, when the creator decides whether or not voters can be anonymous.

I think Pure views his role as moderator (one of them, anyway) is to encourage more posts and discussions. A forum where no one interacts is soon a dead forum. Also, if I could presume, I think he has his default settings on "open"- metaphorically, at least. :)

oh I don't have a problem with it... I've just rarely seen anyone else post a "non-anonymous" poll except for Pure...

but like Mal said, it says right on top "this poll is non-anonymous" or something like that... at least until it's closed.

hi zeb

Zeb, are you sure about this--i.e., in an anonymous poll, the originator can see who voted and how?

Z//Otherwise only the originator of the poll can see the resultant voters.//

Yes, i usually have NON anonymous--labeled as such-- so i can involve some who vote and haven't posted.

If I thought privacy was involved on some particular issue, such as "How many times per day do you masturbate? or "Did you fuck the nextdoor neighbor's husband or wife?" i would have it anonymous, to encourage participation. I'm not trying to 'out' anyone, and if someone does not like my choice, PM me.

Note: I am a moderator only in SDC, and have a guiding and controling role** only at that forum. Elsewhere, as pure 'civilian' i do try to further polite discussion, human failing notwithstanding. Oh, and i do try to explain Literotica rules, customs, and procedures when it seems called for.

===
**By this i mean the power, delegated by Laurel, in SDC, to move threads to oblivion, to move threads to other forums; to split or merge threads, to edit (cut pieces from) others' postings, etc. Mainly however i move postings or threads to other forums, delete spam, etc. Have not seen any flamers recently.

That's what you would say.

(Please note. Dry humour can only be accomplished without smilies and the author cannot be held responsible for anything read into his posts which he did not knowingly include, imply or otherwise indicate by any means whatsoever)

As far as I'm aware, the names of voters are visible in the poll publication at all times. Or that was my experience in a poll which I think it was Rumple posted. Maybe not Rumple, quite probably someone else entirely. Just thought I'd give Rumple a name check since he hasn't had one for about two days.

Gauch, I almost always need a drink of water after reading your posts ;)

I just assumed that the software is setup that way, I have not posted a poll so I don't know for sure. Only those who have posted polls know for sure. If the software doesn't allow the creator to see the results of an anonymous poll then it truly is anonymous.

Although if I had created the software the creator would have had access to the results, but there would also be a second option were the creator of the poll could choose to view or not view the results.
