Going to try a poll with a slightly writerly edge here. What kind of character do you find most appealing?

Shy & Scolarly and Down to Earth are what I voted for, though I'm a bit more for nuances. Cookie cutter characters don't do it for me. And none of the options really captured the "dark, mysterious, goth" appeal, which I'm also partial to.

I like bold and brazen, but good looking, smart and strong, the kind that kicks ass in a man's world.

:rose: ~A~

My favorites to write are the shy and scholarlytype or the rough exteririor with a heat of gold. I don't go for cookie cutter characters, even in my minor characters, but there is only so much you can put in a poll question :)

As you didn't list my ideal, "Downright nympho slut, and bisexual to boot", I had to vote for the down to Earth type. I really do prefer real people to tarted up people.

I had to go with down to earth, too. Attractive, but not stunning is my thing. But, you know sometimes that is pretty stunning in itself.

depends on the author really because each character mentioned has the potential to be hot except the DD being the only requirement.

I voted for shy and scholarly cos I like men that way. I also like them consumptive looking.

I voted the first three.

I don't find "hearts of gold" in the least bit erotic, but it's certainly almost a requirement for me if I want to like the character.

To be erotic, female characters for me should:

Have a failing or weakness (e.g physical appearance, temperament);

Be active; i.e. drive the events of the story to some extent;

Say or do something surprising in the story.

Great looking women in erotica are often passive (probably becasue it's a sort of given that they'll be desirable), and end up boring -- for me that's the biggest turn off of all.

I can vote more than once?! Oh crap.

In that case add Down to Earth as well.

But I really like the scholarly type. They're always willing to learn. Or teach. And I love to teach. And learn.

LOL It's a good thing we can vote more than once! Otherwise I never could have decided.

Put me down for 1, 3, & 4, Colly. :rose: You forgot my favorite trait, though. Wicked smart. ;)
