OK, i work in a city. i see many folks who pass by on the sidewalk when i go outside for a cigarette. and something confuses me hell out of me.

now and again, i see young women, 20s to 30s usually, wearing sandals. no, not sandals: flip-flops. like you might wear to the beach.

WTF is up w/ that? wouldn't your feet be killing you at the end of the day? do you want to expose that much of your foot on those sidewalks?

and of course, b/c it's me, this became an opportunity for a poll.

what fashions/trends du jour do you see that just don't make any sense?

Flip flops combined with legwarmers and a mini-skirt along with a short sleeve t-shirt and a down-filled vest (like a ski-vest), when it's flipping 25 degrees outside.

I'm sorry but that entire combo makes no sense to me.

I've never understood why people spend big bucks to have their hair styled so it looks like they took an egg beater to it.

Blue jeans that cost more than a night at a decent hotel and which are pocked with holes by the manufacturer.

Recently, I asked my daughter where she got the old torn jeans. I got the famous rolleyeyes, and "MOTHERRRR. I bought them that way."

wearing socks with sandals. (this I just don't get)

men's shorts that cover or go below the knees (never)

one style that I find quite interesting is when a woman is wearing a shirt that exposes her shoulders (though the shirt may have straps) and I can count 3 or more sets of straps. I must admit my curiosity has me looking to figure out what they all do.
first i have to assure i don#t wear socks with sandals if i can avoid it - but i must say i can see an advantage. sometimes you want air at your feet but don#t want to get htem all dirty from a dusty street. especially if oyu are somewhere quite dirty and walk a lot.

The holey jeans thing I just don't get. Also 'worn down' looking t shirts, shoes that are ragged and look used, designer messed up hair.

It seems people love to look messy, yet have forgotten that you can look messy just by wrecking stuff and not brushing your hair.. rather than paying out of the nose.
