1. Never heard OBama say axe. He has much better pronunciation than that. It would be an embarassment to the nation if he did speak that way.

2. I just supported her. The English language grows by people making up words (all languages actually) that's why ain't and Google are words now. As long as her audiance understood what she meant there was no problem. Words are tools for communication and she was successfully communicating.
