OK. (Deep breath). Is Jesse Jackson less fit for public office because he has a love child?

For public ministry, yes. He is less fit. That isn't quite the same as public office though.

For public office, I think he'd be judged as a hypocrite and would also be seen as less fit than he might have been seen before.

I don't think "Reverend" Jackson has ever held public office but the "lust child" may tarnish the "Reverend" title. Fortunately for him, his is black so his finances probably wont the attention they deserve. At least his troubles may keep him out of the spotlight this weekend.

Reverend Jackson is no more or no less qualified because he had a "love child." (shouldn't that be lust child?).

If he broke a promise to his wife and his god, then as a public official, why would a promise made to his constituents be held in any higher esteem? In politics the balancing factor to this is, "How much bacon can he bring back to the district." Most people tend to vote for bacon. Hence the success of the Democratic party and the pure Machiavellian methods that they employ. I prefere more confucian-oriented leaders.
