I grew up with an Indian being and Indian and the term means just that and nothing more. Now they are "first nations" which is fine but in some cases it may not work out that well in a story.
So I am writing a story about swingers who are friends and multiracial.

Do i need to worry about calling an ex basketball player black? I think you get the idea.
my story has:
black
Asian
Brown (east indian)
white do I say Irish or German or????

These terms help describe the people and give a better picture. The thing is a basketball player could be Asian and that would be the wrong idea

I do know better than to use a derogatory word, unless the story line had that in it but mine does not. But in some cases what was ok is not now.

Perhaps I am making too much of this but better to ask.

Thanks

Ooh, can't resist nipping in quickly although the breakfast sausages are smoking ominously. Will try to pop back later too.

I try in my stories not to say 'black' or 'Asian' but to describe the person in such a way that if you're clued up, you'll realise the character is from a certain background. This also means I have to sharpen up my descriptions of everyone. So I no longer say: 'dark head' about a white person, I say 'dark-haired head'. Sometimes I think that's a bit clunky but I'm working on it!
:)

Oh hell; English through the eyes of political correctness.
Everyone is just So o sensitive these days, aren't they, darling?

Anyone remember the name of Guy Gibson's dog ?
It is apparently not a word used in polite society these days.

My latest story I call NIGGA HEAVEN. In it a Jewish wife fucks her son's probation officer. I got the idea from a vid I watched. The woman, a Jewess, made a vid for her husband; she was pretty drunk and angry. Anyway, she'd snarl at the camera and refer to the husband as a bastard, and then coo at the black encouraging him with FUCK THAT PUSSY, NIGGA! Then snarl back at the camera, YUH SEE HOW MUCH THIS NIGGA LIKES MY CUNT, FRANK? YOU COULD BE HIM, ASSHOLE! OH! I'M GONNA CUM.

Another story of mine I call NIGGA LOVERS.

Slurs only bother delicate whites.

My daughter occasionally calls her husband a GODDAMNED NIGGER. And she cuts his family no slack. At a family reunion an elderly black woman says to my daughter, YOU LOOK FAMILIAR! And my daughter replies, LOOK AROUND! I'M THE ONLY WHITE HERE!

People arent sensitive, theyre cowards.

They are black and that is fine. Colored I think is a bit much, but Black works.

I am sick and tired of "African American"

If your ass was born here and your dad was born here and your grandad was born here then you have been in this country longer than many immigrants.

You are not from Africa you are from the US you are American and black is the color of your skin just as mine is white. Every person here except for the Native Americans can trace their families to other countries but I don;t walk around saying I am a "Russian American" and my wife is not a "Italian American"

Give it a rest.

I'll also add that I feel that Nigger is one of the most ignorant words in our language.

However, any black persona that uses it, has lost the right to ever complain about it being used by anyone else.

Last year just before I moved I saw something that made me feel damn good.

There is an elderly black couple that lived across the street from us. Nice people, quiet and when we had bought the house and moved in the wife brought us a home made pie(talk about old school).

Well the grand kids are late teens and two of the boys think their gang bangers. I was outside doing some work on the front yard one day and the kids over there and he's pissed and yapping to the grand father about something.

Well its Nigga this and Nigga that and next thing I know the old man gets up and slaps in dead in the mouth and tells him that the only blacks who use that word are those ones that have no idea what it really meant and what racism really is. he told him try being told what bubbler you can drink out of then come back and cry about how bad he thinks he has it.

When the kid left I went over and shook his hand.

We need more of that in this society and a lot less coddling and PC bullshit.

Porn is no place for ettiquette and the social graces. Like Tina Turner says, I LIKE IT GOOD AND ROUGH, BUT MOSTLY I LIKE IT GOOD, AND I LIKE IT ROUGH. Porn is not the place for nice white girls to go down their check lists, mostly they should work on going down.

I'm not going to read the other responses

As a black person, I prefer "black." African-American is politically correct but not all black people like it (I'm ok with it). I won't read stories that use derogatory terms.

I love your technique @Naoko. I always think the reader is going to assume the character is white until I say otherwise.

Its not all about YOU, dear. Its about attracting the reader to feed the need. If a boor like me applies racist terms to you, individually, then you can squawk. Otherwise the whole damned planet gets the crazee idea they can get in line with their pet grievances.

Nope. I'm Sicilian and I identify as brown. (As in: Racist/sexist/homophobic bastards who sneer at people who care about political correct speech, mostly because they are str8, white, males who have NEVER encountered any predudice or bigotry aimed at them and therefore feel "entitled", can kiss my brown ass!)

Please refer to my example above. Fits like a glove, don't it? (well, if you added passive-aggressive fucktard who comments in a condescending manner" it might fit you a little better, but I was trying to be generic don'tcha know?)

First thing I'd tell you is that if you think Black people have no right to use the term "African-American" you'd best be out protesting at least a gazillion St. Patrick's day parades, Italian Wedding Party and every Russian Tea Room.

I also disagree about the usage of a derogatory word by the group it is aimed at. Though I personal find epithets to usually be offensive, if a Black person says "nigga" or a gay guy calls another a "homo" that is "usually" done as a means to take back ownership of the offensive word and take the "sting" out of the insult. The best example of that is the Americans proud use of "Yankee".

Like I said above, I think people get to define their own definitions of themselves. If YOU want to be known as a Black person, cool. If African American is preferred, okay too. What is NOT acceptable, IMO, is when other people try to define you. I mean labels are fine and necessary. I think they are a good thing. I'm a Sicilian lesbian. I've been known to self identify as a "brown queer chick". But that does NOT mean that other people get to use those terms unless given permission to and then only in a non-derogatory manner.

How exactly do you plan to stop speech you dont like? Pout? Sulk? Moon people?

What works for me is being okay with whatever folks wanna say. I'm not obligated to have a bad day when I hear hate speech or any kind of speech. Likewise I have no obligation to swoon if youre up for some hot monkey love from me. I have all the power in my life. And if you kick my ass today I'll come back and getcha tomorrow. One ass kicking never is enough for me, yuh gotta keep doing it, and doing it till youre weary...like Cool Hand Luke.

First off I stay away from Russian Tea rooms and bath houses:eek:

as for parades and things of that nature, celebrating ones heritage is different from constantly walking around calling yourself an "Irish American or Asian American or what have you"

My take on this is when you constantly refer to yourself as something you are calling attention to it.

You want to be treated as everyone else(and should be) then stop making yourself out to be different.

Stop saying I want to be like you but I'm black I'm black I'm black!

To your take on "Nigga" its just funny that none of the older Blacks use the term and if they do it is a very derogatory sense. Because they lived it. These kids running around using it and talking about racism have no clue what that word truly means.

Ignorance and racism will always exist, there will always be asshole white supremacists, just as their will always be a pocket of men who think women should be barefoot and pregnant (they're called republicans) but we are a far cry from segregation. For their ancestors it was reality for these punks its a crutch.

I think what annoys me the most is it has to be mentioned at all. Not on the OP's sense because he needs to describe a character, but in r/l

I don;t know how anyone else here speaks of their friends, but for me all I have is friends. I don;t have black ones and gay ones and Asian ones, I don;t have girlfriends and guy friends, I simply have friends. I don't need an adjective to describe them

And on this and all porn I love that most Blacks think the stories of them defiling white women are awesome. What they are not getting is the taboo of a black man with a white woman (in those cuck type settings, not in r/l) is that the white woman is some how trashy and less than for fucking a black, now what does that say about the black? means he's less than, but as long as they are described as having a big dong, and are tearing into the white sluts they are fine with it.

And for the record, that idea was not mine originally but given to me by a friend who is black as an explanation of why he hates how his race is portrayed in most pron stories/videos.

To go farther his additional comment was if you say "they all like fried chicken or watermelon and eat greens" those are fighting words.

Say they all have big dicks and all trashy white women want them then its cool.

and their use of the word generations of them fought against and an entire country was divided over make the ones who use it their own worst enemy.

See you learn this stuff as a "white boy" growing up in a predominantly all black neighborhood. And its funny that back then they referred to themselves as black and not African American.

Its true, every last one of them is a fool for watermelon, greens, and chicken; theyll take the chow before theyll take pussy.

That's why Sicilians rule the world! We'll take pussy over pasta any day!

My wife is pure Sicilian, but she prefers her pussy taken buy a guy, although I would be okay if she wanted to experiment.

And the first thing I learned from her was "It's gravy, not sauce!!"

Pffffft. She prolly lets you get away with calling her an Italian-American!

BTW, it's only "gravy" if you've from the NE. The rest of us go both ways! ;)

That is good to know. She's from Boston so to them, "Gravy" it is.

I remember accidentally getting her in trouble with her mother because while her mother was staying with us once I took out and opened a can of "Beeferoni"

Now I was raised on that stuff and love it so my wife buys it for me sometimes. My Mother in law was appalled "How can you buy him that? How can you let him eat that?"

No, I don't call her Italian America, but as to your point about people using terms they don;t like others to use, she does call her father a "stubborn wop"

If you really wanted to be politically correct, you'd use base terms such as black people from any part of the world are Negroid, white folk are caucazoid, any asian is mongoloid- the base genus classifications.

But this is YOUR story, you should know yoir characters enough that saying; Suzy rode that native americans penis very well. You should be saying; Suzy was riding John Eaglefeather and it was like spiritual journey. The sky spoke to her and said, ride that dick harder. See the difference? Besides, you just cant say she fucked an Asian person, was he japanese and had a tentical sex robot or was he korean or taiwanese? You gotta step out of this See Dick Run, See Jane Skip mentality. Im sorry but politically correct is not real life or fictional real life.

Therr are other ways to show races, tell me who Janine is being pounded by: They parked in an alley just inside the city, near a place where no one cared that her head was hanging out the back window of the Caddilac DeVille. Screaming with every thrust as he pounded doggystyle. Gerome grunted through his teeth as he bit hard on that slow burning Black & Mild he just freaked. R&B lightly plays on the radio.

Do you know what race this man is, making Janines head bounce around the window frame?

A lot of the time you can just get away with describing them.

Political correctness doesn't even need to factor.

I'm a caucazoid! That's hilarious, sounds like its from a bad video game or sci-fi book.

Also you left out the tell tale word to know its a black man. Man, Jerome thought, this is the sweetest poontang ever!

That word is definitively black and as I said I grew up in that type of neighborhood and when we moved and I started going to a different high school with a bunch of caucazoids I used "poontang" and they were like "What?"

I flt like Steve Martin in the Jerk
