Cant help it I am English, therefore sarcastic and irreverent. I enjoy poking fun and anyone and everything, especially characters who are recognizably caricatures of celebrities. That said it does interest me that some readers seem to use the scoring system to show their ire at my mockery of their heroes rather than perhaps more bravely illustrate with WORDS in the comment section.
Am really interested to hear if any other contributors have found this a contagion?
The obvious answer is to turn off scoring, indeed not accept criticism. Somehow that seems a little like literary cowardice.
Yes I am liberal, very liberal, SORRY! But having said that I poke equally viscous barbs in my heroes. I am an equal opportunity slanderer.

It's no different than any other hot-button - your scores and comment section will suffer when you run counter to strongly held beliefs.

In the case of an erotic story, you're actually stepping on even more toes. People aren't reading porn for politics, and injecting it can actually piss off people who may even be inclined to agree with the sentiments you're expressing. The two passions don't really mix all that well.

So you like to poke and are complaining that readers are poking back? Hmmmmm.

You referred to scoring (votes), not comments. All votes are anonymous (unless they stated how they voted in the comments).

I undeerstand your point, except of course porn and politics are much the same, exploitative

Does it involve anal? Politicians are usually trying to shove something up our asses.

As for the any mouse assassins they are a hazard of the site.

You can disable anonymous comments, but that means you lose out on the good anonymous comments and there are a lot of those as well.

Best thing to do is just learn to take them for what they;re worth.

Nothing.

I do believe you can disable scoring too. Not many authors choose to do this though, even the ones that complain about the one bombing.

In my experience, only about 10% of voters comment - it just takes more effort to write an opinion than to click a star.

You have 18 stories and five comments, none of which are out of line, so what's the problem exactly?

You don't even have voting turned on, so that's a non issue as well.

For me the number is closer to 0.5% at best. For popular stories, >200,000 views, it's way under 0.01%. I need to get me some more chatty readers!

.80% voting, .024% commenting, and .020% favoriting for me. ( average of all 3 pen names )

Are you counting as a percentage of votes, or of all views there? I get about 1 comment per 10 votes, but only about 1 vote for 50 views, so it works out at around 0.2% of views leaving a comment.
