Political extremes

For some time now a story idea (that I will probably never write) has been flitting around my imagination, coming to vivid life more recently. Given the hyper-divisive political world of even daily life now in the US, I can't help but wonder what might draw two people from opposite extremes together sexually?

Though the fantasy/story idea has a longer history, the current manifestation is inspired by an unfolding debate on an online forum between neighbors in regards to wearing masks. It is mind boggling to me that some insist on being so ignorant and arrogant about their "right" not to wear a mask. That being said, one of the antagonists in the debate I decided to google and discovered that she is extremely hot looking 40something, Trump loving, gun toting, bible thumping crazy woman.

Of course, now I can't help but imagining a situation where we meet, we argue, we despise one another and afterwards we fuck.

But why would we? Are we just so angry, so charged, that our need for sexual release draws us together? Does one dominate the other or is it a dance/fight of two equals as our clothes come flying off? And what happens when it is all over? I can't imagine there is going to be any cuddling and spooning! How do we even look at one another as we dress? Or does my sexual prowess convert her to my way of thinking???

Right wing women

Know a few, so if you're specifically looking at right-wing women, they basically had one of those relationships with their fathers that was domineering & all about them being in their place. Like, one girl I knew her dad didn't let her take calculus b/c she wouldn't need it as a housewife type stuff. Not out of any lack of love, just..that's the kind of stuff they respond to. The "hot" appearance is b/c that's to compensate for lack of achievements real/perceived OR b/c that's what they've determined they need to appear as to get the husbands. We called them M.R.S. majors in college. If your male character is white... (I'm telling you from my background in TX, where I once heard, "We had to move because those girls weren't caring what color their babies were" from a friend's mom & another friend told me that her parents threatened to disown her if she came home w/ a Black fiance--it's still a thing w/ a lot of these ppl)...dumps on her intelligence, demeans her with comments about how well built she is or needs to lose weight to look like [fill in unrealistic porn model], and then acts territorial when other guys look at her like a grade-A asshole, then yes, she'll go for him. She'll also have grown up watching her own father act like that towards her mom, so it'll seem like the familiar pattern. They're particularly easy to ambush at evangelical churches when the pressure is on to hug and be a perfect little Christian woman; just ask to borrow her Bible.

Carville and Matlin are political opposites, but seem happily married. I bet they avoid "talking shop" at home. I have a story germinating of political opposites as the main characters, though they never connect romantically.

My sense is that most of their differences are performative, to get ratings. Plus there differences aren't that extreme, just different political parties. Almost like the Conways, one working for Trump, the other working against him...

That is certainly an interesting insight and take on it. I had in mind though the more aggressive right-winger, think Tomi Lahren type - who I have a secret fantasy for as is! Driven, aggressive, talks a lot, over confident/arrogant, smug as fuck, and hot as hell...

Hate is a strong emotion. Strong emotions can lead to a need for relief. That can be sexual relief. Hate fucking is a fine tradition. The real trick is how to handle the morning after once the glow of the moment has faded.

If this is the kind of character you're talking about then I think it could work if they enjoy arguing with one another so much, and admire the other's debating skills despite despising their positions, that each gets turned on.

I've written a story with this type of theme called 'The Coal Miner & the Conservative' which is set in England during the UK Miners Strike in 1984. It features a young miner from Yorkshire named Gary who meets Felicity, a posh law student from London (she is the cousin of his friends) and they squabble non-stop due to polar opposite political views, but antagonism turns to desire and soon they are at it like a pair of rabbits.

The story, while getting some positive reviews, wasn't a success though and sank without trace. Stories with political themes in my experience don't tend do so well, even ones set many years in the past like my story.

First off, I don't use spyware for searches.

Second, I rarely ever socialize anymore. If I were to come across someone interesting while running errands, we decided to have coffee or lunch and that side of them came out, I would simply walk away. There would be no further interaction of any kind, no matter their appearance. I don't associate with the insane.

Third, I will NOT be masked. 6 I am NOT a masker. I am a free face. 6

The best story I ever read in this vein was called "I Fucked Ann Coulter In The Ass, Hard." It kind of explores the appeal of sex between people with widely varying political view:

It's not on Lit, so the link might not be appropriate. Just google the title and it'll come right up.

An intriguing story indeed! Ann Coulter always enticed me, but something about her created a block as compared to Tomi or Megyn Kelly and others whose names I don't even keep track of any more. She is just a bit too cold, but I like in your story how she gets off in confrontation...

Lit likely wouldn't allow it for political content, but if you based someone off her, you might get away with it. I would be curious to see a high-profile Republican or sex-negative TERFy feminist busted at a glory hole, myself. The political fallout from the exposure of hypocrisy would be something beautiful indeed.

Just be sure to follow Laurel's rules here at Lit. She has to cover her ass like any other smart, savvy, business type.

Maybe there are two intelligent good-hearted people who find themselves on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Typically they would never get past introductions in the same room, but they find themselves physically attracted and stay in the room long enough (due to a good hate fuck) to have time to confirm that they are indeed both intelligent and good-hearted people. They wonder how they can both be intelligent and good-hearted, and yet belong to different political parties! After talking, and giving each other the benefit of the doubt, they discover that they are both intelligent and good-hearted, but, prioritize different problems and see different solutions to those problems... and that they have both been vilifying anyone who thinks differently rather than listening to why they think what they do.

Nah. Never mind. That's less plausible than a tentacle monster. :)

How’s this for the start of the story. There are two small farms in North Dakota. One is owned by a card carrying NRA survivalist, and the other by peace and love flower child. During the dead of winter, with 6 feet of snow, the power goes out. They decide to help each other for a few days until power returns. One could be living on MREs, while the other has smoked pork, yogurt, an vegetables preserved in mason jars from living off the land.

Just a thought...

My partner and I have differing political views on lots of things. I also have different political views to the rest of my family- we belong to different political parties even! Christmas can be fun!

One of my stepsisters is flight attendant, and a die hard militant vegan. If you know the clock app think That Vegan Teacher, but slightly more bearable.

No lie! She married a guy from Montana with 40,000 acres who is an organic cattle rancher. He rents part of his land to hunt. She belongs to moms demand action. They fight constantly and have 7 kids & 3 grand kids.
