Ok, I know everyone is pretty much fed up with this whole election fiasco, but I did have a few things I wanted to say.

I mean, to tell the truth, either way anyone looks at it, America gets a bum deal with either candidate. With both candidates the military gets the boot again.<my biggest pet peeve> With Bush, we'll have a president who wants to try and mix religion with politics<i.e. Christian Coalition> With Gore, you get someone who is so far up on his high horse, that his main concern is going to be staying there. Which means that a lot of issues that are important to the many will be rejected to deal with the issues of the few who hav money.

and you somehow find that out of the ordinary ?

These ARE politicians we are talking about.

Unfortunately though you ARE right as I see it,,,

I have to say, even with all the scandals, I'm gonna miss Clinton.

Lord I hope so, I am tired of being in the top 10% of all wage earners and having to bear 90% of all income taxes paid. Tax cut for the wealthy? Hell yeah, we're the ones paying them.

Oh, don't get me started tonight, I promised the fantasy goddess we would go out to dinner, as soon as I get home. Ya'll know I could argue this one 'til dawn. lol

Oh, like I've said before, he wasn't drafted, he chose the military life. I chose to work two or three jobs, invest and learn investing, and further my education (okay I worked in a titty bar, but I cleared 500-600 a night). Learn to live with your choices after you have made them. Or move to Palm Beach.

Me too. I just finished reading a fascinating article from the Washington Post on the relationship between Greenspan and Clinton - which is one of total mutual respect and admiration and which contributed greatly to the current economic boom. Apparently Greenspan and the elder Bush didn't get along so well, but Clinton and Greenspan hit it off immediately. It's a story that illustrates how true bipartisanship (Greenspan's a lifelong Republican) can accomplish anything. Here's a quote:

On December 3, Greenspan took a commercial flight to Little Rock to meet with Clinton. As they talked alone in the governor's mansion, Greenspan found himself quite taken with the new young leader. Clinton was totally focused, as if he had no other care in the world and unlimited time. They ranged over topics from foreign policy to education, and Greenspan saw that Clinton's reputation as a policy junkie was richly deserved. The president-elect seemed not only engaged but engrossed.

Here's a link. It's a long article, but a good read.

Yeah and both now have agendas to attack the adult net.

Typically the democrats have attacked big business more than peoples adult entertainment. At least not in a direct attack. But Tipper Gore got music to put volunteer labels on only after failing to get censorship.

Her next agenda could very well be the adult internet as it goes main stream.

What I wanna know is if Al Gore is the father of the internet is Dani's Hard Drive it's mother???

Bush has the cursing colition agenda that lumps child porn, internet shady dudes, anything adult, gay/lesbian/bi and fetish, child porn, in the same bracket. If you are one of those you are all of them and must be forced in jail or into 24/7 religious instructions. I agree there is no place in our society for child porn, theives, murders etc. But what I can't quite grasp is why children must be taught thier god given bodies are nasty and love is something you hide in the dark while it is alright to watch violent movies all the time with just maybe a slap on the wrist. Lets make it just as bad to promote violence to our kids as it is to do the other. Thats ,my soap box!

I told you all you should have voted for Snoopy but no you wouldn't listen.

Gore is less bad as far as freedom as speech is concerned.

I think so, anyway. Bush has the Christian Coalition on his side, which is not a good sign.

Ok, as Ambro pointed out. Yes, my husband made a descision to join the Army. I totally agree that it was his choice to do so, and I'm not upset about that. What does upset me however, is to see how little our military means to our presidential candidates. Our military personnel are among the lowest paid workers in the US. This means that 95% of all the enlisted personnel and their families qualify and receive welfare. <Is it just me or is there something wrong with this picture??> Yes, I do believe that the upper class may be paying a bit much in income taxes, but hey, some how I would rather that for me, than having to work two or three jobs and never seeing my children just to make ends meet. I would love to go back to school, only problem??? Money. I would love to get a job, only problem??? Money. See everything leads back to money. In order to have a job, while you have kids, you have to have money to pay for child care<which even for the military is ridiculous>. But in order to pay for child care, you have to have enough money.
Bush plans on <whether in the open or behind closed doors> to let the Coalition try and dictate certain standards. Wrong. As it has been said before, religion and government don't mix. Just check out the Inquisition.
Gore, doesn't have any real plans to help our lower income families.
So who's the better candidate?

Neither one is the better cadidate!

Their both Ivy League schooled. Their both born into wealthy families, spoon fed with the BS that they were being educated and trained to lead the next generation of Americans. Their both of very questionable morals.

I think their both two of the worst candidates for the presidency in the last 30 years. Neither one gives a damn about you and I. Gore in his arrogancy, cares only about his destiny of being president and kissing the ass of the cultural elite.

Bush will do whatever big business directs him to. Because of his being in the back pocket of big business we will see a further erosion of our individual rights and privacy, as evidenced by the lack any type of internet privacy laws, because big business does not want us to have privacy for then we could opt out. (but again this is a problem of both parties because of their big business connections). This lack of privacy is also evidenced by the laws enacted within recent years that allow yours and mine personal financial information to be accessed by any subsidiary of a bank or other financial instituion, or insurance company that you do business with. Fairly soon I'm afraid it will be our private medical information that is allowed to be shared.

Can you imagine trying to buy health insurance at that time?

Laws should have been passed without any fight to protect our private lives. That never should have been an issue, but both candidates and parties have been unable or unwilling to pass this legislation.

Screw both of these guys. Their the bottom of the barrell.

I still say McCain would have Kicked Gore's butt.

Yes neither candidate will help.

At the rate we are going we will be nothing but reserves some day and when they declare a war no one will be ready to fight it.

EXCusme mister dictator could you cancel this agression until We can get out reserves mobalized!!!

Yanno, I was wondering about McCain. What happened to him??? I know my husband was totally supporting him, but then he seemed to drop out of sight.

As the story goes......

McCain and Bush were not really to fond of each other.

In my opinion, I think it was difficult for McCain to really support Bush, given that Bush stated after the primaries that, "He was the winner of the republican primary and he didn't need McCain's support".

Well, George Dubbya, maybe you really did need John's support.

At the risk of being told it's none of my business, anyone read "1876" by Gore Vidal? It's about how Sam Tilden was robbed of the presidency in that year by Rutherford. "History happens once as tragedy and once as farce" K Marx

So, is this the farce?

I heard certain members of the Congress addressed Hayes as "Your Fraudulency". I'm sure half the population will have those words on their mouths no matter what happens.

No Not in the good old USA

Me faith in de moc racy are being eroded! Surely in our enlightened day and time with the watch dog (is this beastilaty) internet keeping everyone instantly informed no candidate can steal an election?

Snoopy would at least never stoop that low. I'm gonna hire him to "dig" into this!!!

***EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA***

GORE ASKS COURT TO OVERTURN RESULT

NEW YORK--Feb. 15, 2001:

Lawyers for Former Vice President Al Gore, the new owner of the New York Mets, went to Federal District Court yesterday to ask Judge Julius P. Dunce to throw out the results of the World Series for the year 2000.
"At least 19,000 of these so-called 'foul balls' hit by Mets batters were actually fair, in the stands, and should be counted as home runs," commented new Mets Manager Bill Daley.
When asked to explain his assertion that the Mets had really won the Series despite the fact that TV networks declared the Yankees the winners, Daley said the following:
"We feel that it was presumptive of the networks to declare a winner after only five games had been played." Daley added, "Also, many Mets batters were confused about how the umpires were calling strikes and balls in such an arbitrary manner.   If you get four balls, you should get four strikes also, it makes sense.   Some of our taller batters were victimized since their strike zone from the knees to the shoulders is bigger than it was for those shorter Yankee batters. The strike zone should be the same for everyone in both leagues."
Daley continued with an explanation of what he referred to as "some procedural anomalies" that had also been brought to his attention. "We'd like to know who thought up this arbitrary number of only 9 innings?   Why just nine?   How can our batters get a fair chance at winning if the umpires insist on arbitrary rulings like 9 innings?" Daley said.
The new Mets front office manager Warren Christopher agreed.   "The only way to resolve this controversy and move on with our lives is for Judge Dunce to order the Yankees to come back to town and replay the entire 2000 World Series.   And this time they should leave some of their pitchers on the bench to ensure fairness.   Unless we do that, we can never have closure as a people." Christopher said.
Christopher says the Mets will demand a frame by frame replay of the video tape of Game 5 at least three or more times in order to ensure that the umpires know the will of the fans.   To make extra sure the will of each fan is understood, Christopher personally will operate the tape machine by hand.
At a Mets rally/press conference, new Mets PR Director, the former Rev. Jesse Jackson, whipped a gathering of Mets supporters into a frenzy:  "They've disgraced Babe's home, with an unfair strike zone. Their doubleplay was against fairplay. Call us out, and we'll scream and shout! We will not yield, without a level playing field!" After the rally, in which Jackson called for a demonstration in the Bronx, Mr. Jackson said, "The march on Yankee Stadium will be more historic than the march on Selma."
Judge Dunce is expected to issue his ruling sometime after the 2007 World Series has been played.

In a related story, lawyers for the estate of the late Chuck Comiskey have asked Attorney General Janet Reno to overturn the loss of the Chicago White Sox in the World Series of 1919 based on fraud on the playing field.
When reporters pointed out to Ms. Reno that the evidence shows the fraud was actually committed by the White Sox players themselves who were paid by gamblers to throw the games, Reno said:  "This little boy belongs with his father back in the nurturing home of his native police state.  And if I have to use my SWAT teams in the middle of the night in every American city and burn out every religious cult compound in the country, I am only doing that to save the children."
When Ms. Reno was asked what her answer had to do with the White Sox, she replied that she does not comment on pending staged trials.
Lawyers for the estate of the late Judge Kennesaw Mountain Landis said they would have no comment until they consult with the late Judge, who is currently vacationing in Eastern Tennessee along with his good friend Counselor Connoly of the Kennebunkport, Maine night court.

Yeah, today apparently McCain broke with Dubbya and supported a hand recount, saying that the process should be respected. It's rather odd that on Friday GW was saying that the process should be allowed to function without the hindrance of litigation, then yesterday he sues to stop the recount that's permitted via Florida law.

I also find it strange that GW would decry a hand recount as "inaccurate" when he personally signed a bill into law in Texas making hand recounts the preferred method.

Them wacky politicians...

You lose the general election, you then lose the recount. How many times do you have to be called a loser before it sets in?

Welcome back PAMFAM!

Someone just sent me this...

How To Be A Good Republican...by Ann Richards:

1. You have to believe that the nation's current 8-year prosperity was due
to the work of Ronald Reagan and George Bush, but yesterday's gasoline
prices are all Clinton's fault.

2. You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all
on their own.

3. You have to believe that someone like Michelle Pfeiffer can really walk
into an inner city classroom and accomplish miracles.

4. You have to appreciate the power rush that comes with sporting a gun.

5. You have to believe everything Rush Limbaugh says.

6. You have to believe that the agricultural, restaurant, housing and hotel
industries can survive without immigrant labor.

7. You have to believe God hates homosexuality, but loves the death penalty.

8. You have to believe society is color-blind and growing up black in
America doesn't diminish your opportunities, but you still won't vote for
Alan Keyes.

9. You have to believe that pollution is OK as long as it makes a profit.

10. You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to
Allah or Buddha.

11. You have to believe Newt Gingrich and Henry Hyde were really faithful
husbands.

12. You have to believe speaking a few Spanish phrases makes you instantly
popular in the barrio.

13. You have to be against government interference in business until your
oil company, corporation or Savings and Loan is about to go broke and you
beg for a government bail out.

14. You love Jesus and Jesus loves you and, by the way, Jesus shares your
hatred for AIDS victims, homosexuals, and President Clinton.

15. You have to believe a poor, minority student with a disciplinary history
and failing grades will be admitted into an elite private school with a
$1,000 voucher.

Not half as funny as the version I've seen- "How to be a Good Liberal"

Of course, some people here would probably see that list as nothing more than a good summary of life for them. :D
