Hello poets,

Some of you have probably already caught DarkGlasses' thread asking for poets to submit works based on his artwork for the newest art challenge. That art challenge, seen here: https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=424169 , is for all the artists who'd like to participate and hopefully utilize the talents of the poets in the process. If you'd like to drop your name in the hat as being available to produce poetry for the artworks created for that challenge, feel free to drop the other artists a line in that thread. :rose:

Now for the second part of my plan to take over the world. Pinky, hand me my plans ...
http://www.yagersoft.com/blog/images/pinky_and_the_brain.jpg

One of my original thoughts pertaining to the poetry + artworks idea involves a bit of a competition for the poets. It starts off very much so like the challenges that are currently held in the Artists Corner; An ingredient is chosen that must be incorporated into the artworks somehow; there's a time limit for concepts and production; voting is done and a "winner" is chosen who will then host the next challenge and choose the next ingredient. In the previous challenges there have been wildcard rules about erotica being mandatory or what have you. Thus opening up each challenge to different interpretations and a broader spectrum of works created.

So, having over-stated all of that ...

The challenges here would be much the same, except the winner of each poetry challenge would then have his, her or its poem go on to be one of the subjects in a new series of art challenges that I'd like to start.

Here's the catch for me; Other than being able to string some very basic rhymes together, I am incredibly ignorant to poetry and all of its finer points and idiosyncracies. The two other things that I'm ignorant to is would there be any interest from the poetry community for this sort of thing? And if so, would someone from the poetry community here like to start the first challenge since I don't have the foggiest idea what to ask for as far as rules, time limits, etc.?

I'd like to hold the Poetry Art Challenges about once a month or once every other month on a consistant basis. We already have several challenges a month currently taking place, and the artists there are pretty good about picking and choosing what they want, or can, work on.

In the end, the original concept behind the challenges was to push the boundaries and talents of those participating. Its never actually been about winning or losing, so if you'd only be interested in this for some glory, well ...

Discuss. Throw me some bones or boot this whole thing in the keister. Your opinions matter the most.

Thank you for your time. :rose:

:D
It's nice to see you over here, DG. A comment on your poem follows.

Minimalist, but I fear I see a mixed metaphor. Isn't it better, really, as pissed on?

Hi H-n-H,

We do have challenges here but not usually organized into contests, as this is. I'm sure there are many poets here who would love to create poetry for your artwork.

Saddened by Jughead

if I had any idea of what to do, I would jump at it just because of that insipid snobbery! I do so hope someone of some knowledge tosses this crock cookie on his bald, bigot head!

say what?

You talkin' to me (about me)?
or about Halo-n-horns.

Because you about to get yer ass whupped, either way.

"insipid snobbery"?

There was a gracious open invitation given.
I think he/she is referring to the beatnik commentary. :D

That is one of things I'm hoping for. We have a lot of art over there. I'd love to see the poets create a thread that features the artworks and the poems that you ladies, gentlemen and Cousin Its create based on the inspirations you get from them.

Its an open invitation and I get the feeling that two very different forums working on shared subjects would be very interesting for the whole site.

Oui?

I have participated in challenges in which the artwork was posted and poets responded ot the particular piece. We did that last year with Terry Rentzipas and got a bunch of great poems out of it.

I think that if you post your artwork, you will surely get poetic responses. Is that what you are looking for? I am a bit slow won these matters...

"Piss off" is not my invention. It is an idom... to be rudely dismissed like a speck on the rim of a toilet being PISSED OFF...pissed away.

hardly poetry...and not unlike another odd phrase related to elimination...."taking a shit"...when one is actually leaving the shit...
or taking part in the act of shitting.

hmmm funny this language of ours.
Poop! Did I neglect to say that my tongue was firmly in my cheek? ;)

That's definitely one of things we're, or, I'm hoping for (I shouldn't attempt to speak for everyone else over there. That would be rude of me). C'mon over to the Artists Corner in the AH (see also the link in my sigline), check out the various galleries and art challenges that we've got going and see if it gets your creative wordsmith juices flowing. :rose:

I have been busy as of late but I tend to and plan on writing poetry for all the drawings I have done in these challenges. If there is a specific picture you want a poem written for ... then post the picture here and I bet many will simply write what they feel from the viewing....also <grinin'

We'll see how the week goes as I know there's a lot of people who are not seeing this thread over the weekend, but thus far I'm guessing that the competition idea I outlined in the intitial post isn't going to take off.

Still, it would be great to see the poets jump in and have thread, here or there, dedicated to poetry based on the artworks and visa-versa.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

I think it is a great success! I have 8 poets looking into it...I think I have 6 poems so far...I'm losing count...but I don't mind more they are FANTASTICAL!

and I wasn't even wild on the theme when you (Halo) first presented it.

I sure hope some more artists jump in!

I would think that the poets could write to a number of images...right?
I'm quite sure they could as well. Anything to keep everyones' creative juices flowing. :D

something tells me this is going to be one heck of a neat challenge!

the Evil art challenge.

:)

and, you're welcome.
If all goes well I feel that it has a huge amount of potential. Despite what it is, Evil is a great subject for art and poetry alike. In another week we'll see how it really cought on, or didn't.

it's all in the advertising, i reckon.

:)
I'm not sure how else to go about the advertising on this one. The challenge is posted in the artists corner as well as here. I know the artists have busting hump to participate in the previous challenges, and this is a very busy month for a lot of people which partly why I extended the time limit for submissions on this one. Then there's the subject itself ... Who knows what prudery I inspired with that one.
