do laws of physics constrain physics?

without laws there would be no physics and no physicists
(the same holds for poetry and poets)

ok, I'm o'ta here.

But if righteous rules run the world,
we forfeit fun for freedom loving fools!

The laws of physics define physics, not constrain it. There is no Physical Legislature which debates and passes resolutions binding on the physical world.

Poetry uses metaphor to explain the world. We have yet to find a poet who can use metaphor to define poetry.

Hey,
Merry whatev.
and best wishes for the New Year

I always had this theory that I write better when I'm angry. ( I see it works for you too)I got my congressman to attach it to the new tax cut, so soon it will be a law.

so soon Rod Mckuen will be shipped to New Zealand

you can stay
if you maintain
that certain red glow
that comes from Mars

I write MUCH better when I am manic as a squirrel. Maybe the anger cuts through the bullshit and allows you to see some truth otherwise hidden.

The laws of physics are like the moods and opinions of my lover, in a constant state of flux. Often paradoxical and contradictory, perplexing, unfathomable, ill informed, incomplete, frustrating, provisional, uncontrolable and maddening, with brief moments of sanity and lucidity. If she was predictable, she would lose her poetry or maybe I would find an equalibrium that would make me content and bored.

And do not forget that one of the latest views about the origins of matter and stuff insists that in order for the universe to be sitll on the expansion phase of a blow up rather than in collapse, E (speed of light) must be a variable constant.

So, if a constant in the theory of relativity can be adapted to make a truth, more true, then poetry must certainly adapt itself to suit the poet. Perhaps this explains why there is no metaphor for poetry, only adjectives.

Once you have the concept of a constant variable nailed down, work on the idea of a positron is an electron moving backwards in time.

My lover thinks she's a metaphor for poetry but I insist she's just a list of adjectives. Our sound semaphore bickers at each other like the universe's background noise but I rarely capture its poetry. By the time we've collided and exploded into a super nova and then collapsed into a pulsar, she has forgotten she thinks she's a metaphor for poetry and I don't care if she's a list of adjectives or not. Unfortunately, poetry like the laws of physics seem like trying to get hold of a handfull of air.;)
