This is just a reminder that there are 5 poems waiting to be discussed at the Poetry Discussion Circle. As you - or most of you - know, the Poetry Discussion Circle is a venue devoted entirely to focused critique and discussion of specific poems, where poets can offer their poems up for intense examination and critique, free from ego-stroking and distractions. Readers can offer their comments, insights and honest opinions on the selected poems, and engage in open discussion that should ultimately benefit all of us.

The latest poem to have been added to the queue was Elizabetht's "Seasons of Emotions", but it has only received two or three comments so far. If you have any free time, hop on over and add your own view!

i need to get there. *self-spanking*

i think it was a great idea, and the results will be even better than they are if as many poets as possible join in.

keep reminding us...be stern mistresses.

Thank you, Pat. You are absolutely right. :)

I'll do my best to come by, but I'm still feeling a little daunted and new-kiddish when it comes to commenting on poetry around here. (Well, actually, in general--I suppose--my critical gears are more wired towards dramaturgy, although it's not too dissimilar when you think about it.)

That only means you'll approach the poems from a fresh and different perspective, not that it would be any less valid. And remember who's the new Literature Nobel Prize Winner. ;)

Seriously. Go there and check it.
I've tried several times to comment on the season poem. I almost had a post ready to submit when I read some other replies. So, I read my post again and decided to delete and think about it some more. My advice is don't read any other comments first!

:D Always a good advice.

I started to make a "it's like soup without crackers" comment. It was totally forest gump.

Excellent advice for all commenters on all poems, in particular the new sub-forum. By the time I get there it is always "what she said minus what he said", so why bother?

As Fernando Pessoa would say, "Tudo vale a pena / Se a alma não é pequena". :p

Each person always sees a poem a little differently, and those differences are what make discussion possible and interesting. Of course it is easier for ourselves to see those differences if we don't read the others' comments until we finish formulating our own. It's a good advice indeed. :)

Critical merely means an opinion. I think we all have opinions, I also believe we each have our strong points in writing, reading and commenting on poetry, which is learned thru processes like this. I know you have your strong points in poetry. I know you think yourself weak in other areas. We all do ... so comment like I do, on what you know. Your opinion would mean the world to many. It would have to me.

Same goes for PatC! And Lauren might not have a mistress hand, but I sure as hell have whips!! lol :p

I got past 1201 and the Wildone with this one, my mistake, but knew at that point, I would be tainted if I read more, so I just wrote my feelings on the topic in the best way I know how. :D

the trick is to be in quick --- not.

maybe... try printing a poem out, take it away, mull on it and put your own thoughts into a word document, and then copy and paste it into the PDC.

in my opinion, it's easier for an author to read individual comments on their poem, and then to work through the discussion on comments of other comments.

An unexpected problem that we're having with the Poetry Discussion Circle is that not enough of you are offering your own poems for discussion! The queue is always empty, and I practically have to chase you down and force you to add a poem to it.

I thought you had to actively give a critique to qualify in participation. I'm aware of my shortcomings at critiquing and having viewed some very good critiques I've been put off a little by putting my rather meagre two penneth's worth in. Maybe I should reconsider.

Well, you do have to critique two other poems, but that's not difficult. You don't have to be an expert reviewer - everyone's views can be and are important. :)

twelveoone, Nickie Smiles, Rybka, The_Fool, Tristesse, flyguy69, annaswirls - at least the seven of you have made enough comments to be eligible to add one of your poems to the queue. Come on, let's keep it rolling.

You noticed my handiwork in there? That is the "dirty" part.
:D

Most of my work will not display properly in this forum.

Excellent. :D

I shall start a new thread with it tomorrow night, ok? Just to make an even week of having Elizabetht's up for discussion.
