I posted a poem into this site and just today received a letter stating that my poem had passed inspection and was now moving on the semi final stages.

Now a friend asked me to post here for she has heard bad things about the organisation.

In the mail I received from them they asked me to buy the anthology that my poem will be published with and whilst i do have the money I chose not too.

They also asked me for 50 dollars American if I wanted to put a special bio note next to my poem. Of course for that money I said no.

What have been other people's experiences? I would like to know.

The poem I did submit to Poetry.com was the following;

Love, Sensuality, Devotion

The burning fire in my soul.
The drenching heat in my body
Love is feeling, feeling is emotion.
The fiery columns of passion flow through my veins
The slick wetness of seduction in my mind.
Sensuality is devotion, devotion is passion.
Moving closer to you, hunger in my eyes
My soul now a burning couldron of emotion
Devotion is what makes us feel from our heart,
It is what makes love real.
A kind of LSD.

There have been several threads on this board about poetry.com. If you don't lose any money and it makes you happy to have your poems on that site, then I see no harm. But know that this site (poetry.com) is there to make money, not to necessarily promote good poetry.

The anthology

they publish is not based upon merit. If you purchase an anthology from them, they will put your poem in it, regardless of how good (or bad) it is.

Thankyou Jim,

That's pretty much what I have heard from many people, I don't think I will be spending money for a product that is not doing the right thing.
