Poetry Board

HSWriter (I Believe it was) Brought this up in another thread.

Do any of you think there is enough poetry and writers of it to warrant a Poetry Board? Ever since he brought it up, I've been dying to hear everyone elses thoughts on it, because I personally think it's a good idea. The poems are the first things I read when I come here, and I have a huge backlog of poems of my own I need to weed through and proofread before submitting them.

I am a poet (if I can use the term loosely) sounds great but realistically...I don't believe we need it.

I think all of you poets should go stand in the corner!

A "Poets Corner" to match the "Authors Hangout."

I do think that the poetry needs to be included in the new stories list. It would entice a few more readers, although I would probably pass on most poetry personally.

A Poets Corner forum would not garner as much usage as the author's hangout, but it would encourage people to talk about erotic poetry. I get the feeling that threads about poetry start out with an apologetic, "I know everyone is interested in 'real' writing but..." kind of tone -- as if the thread starter expects to be laughed at for writing poetry.

A forum just for poets would make it clear that poetry and poets are welcome here, and perhaps make people more comfortable about discussing poetry without "intruding on the real concerns of the board."

(Put aout those flamethrowers! I'm not claiming that I feel poetry is not real writing! It's far too hard for me to write.)

The poetry boards on aol have been very successful. Poems could still be submitted to the poetry section, but also posted on the board. I think it would draw more and better poets to literotica, as well as more fun than having them gather dust in the poetry section.

I think there is something to be said for more immediate feedback and interaction. Yes, you can submit your poems here and wait for them to get posted and watch your ratings and get some anonymous feedback...

But I, for one, think it would be enjoyable to be able to post poetry and have it immediately available. I also enjoy writing poems with people and could se interactively working with one or more to create a poem (each person adding a line or stanza or whatever).

Also - you could post poems by your favorite poets... as I did with my Rumi thread here - http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=22015

I guess there's nothing to stop us from doing this on the general board as well...
